I think he is Kizzy.
I am aware that UKIP have to get around 25% in a general election just to even pick up a few seats. That is a tall order. Last edited by joeysteele; 23-05-2014 at 12:17 AM. |

Quote:
I've been impressed with Milliband's party conferences the last couple of years, he needs to translate the attitude he displayed there on a more mainstream scale so perhaps during the TV debatesIf nothing else I hope there's an increased turnout Quote:
3.1% share of the vote which was +0.9% up on 2005 I suppose a lot of it also depends on how many candidates they get to stand nationally in constituencies which I hope isn't a lot, as long as they're denied seats I really don't care how 'popular' they are...it's once they get a few that they can start pushing their campaign into overdrive and it'd be a downward spiral going forward |

I think it will be another hung parliament as well and I again think the Lib Dems could be the king makers which would be interesting. So hard to call right now when the all important swing will likely happen over the next few months
I think UKIP get a couple of seats in Parliament 2015 but will be a long way from being a significant force. In a way that could be the death of them because they'll finally be involved in central politics so can't play the protest vote so strongly and claim they are against the 'Westminster elite' when they are now a part of it Last edited by MTVN; 23-05-2014 at 12:15 AM. |

UKIP were nowhere near in the general election but they were second in the Euro elections 2009 so anti-EU sentiment isnt anything that new and its only increased in the last few years. UKIP are appealing because they're the only largeish party who offers a clear exit option from the EU so it's hard to see them going away any time soon.

Oh it just makes me sick how they appeal to the 'homeowners' sitting there bleating about Romanians not bothering to question any of the other questionable ideals they hold.
How 'British' will it be when we all have to get private healthcare as he's flogged the NHS to serco?

UKIP are popular because they are tapping into media created and perpetuated ideas and fears about immigration and Europe and it's saddening. They're presenting themselves as this protest, 'stick it to the man' party for the working class when actually if the people that are deciding to vote for them did a bit more research they'd realise UKIP policies were going to be anything but beneficial for them...
I mean I know of people/people's parents that are left-wingers/socialists and have voted UKIP, there's loads of people whose politics shouldn't be anywhere near UKIP yet they've been brainwashed into thinking it is It's just sad |

Definitely not a good one and I fear more likely surprises to come, Labour should have taken this one but there was only a single seat change overall.

One thing I will say though is I have noticed a hell of a lot of anti-UKIP sentiment among people my age over the last few weeks and I don't think I've seen a single person say anything positive about them. I've been quite surprised actually, either expected people to be jumping on the bandwagon because they don't really understand politics or just not commenting at all but there's been a lot of negative posts on social media about them and a lot of piss taking in real life too. Refreshing and calming to see

I think it's already clear that where they are standing, UKIP will do really well tonight unfortunately.
The good thing is that hopefully they don't run any council after all the results and that this maybe does, just a year away from the 2015 election, wake the other parties up to the dangers of underestimating UKIP. |
