![]() "In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time," Taylor's spokesperson said in a statement. ![]() so demi has nothing better to do than be desperate and stir drama

My heart breaks every time I look at that picture of Kesha sobbing in the court room, it's too much. The music industry is out of touch with reality - it occurred to me that Hollywood used to operate on a similar business model, signing actors and actresses to studios which dictated what they could and couldn't do, how many films they had to appear in and so on; and if an actor or actress didn't play ball, they could just bury their career and sign someone else. Imagine if that's how it still worked today?! It's unthinkable, and yet the music industry can get away with signing artists to a 5 album deal and then holding them prisoner within that because they've invested money in them. Sometimes things don't sell but that doesn't mean the creators or portrayers of that work are no longer profitable. Johnny Depp's had some serious turkeys in his career but he's also been a box office success. If he was a pop star, he'd have been dropped after the release of The Lone Ranger probably.
Kesha's court case going against her is no surprise because the music industry as a whole would have been compromised by a favourable ruling for the artist, it wasn't just Sony invested in this case, it was all music labels. She was never going to win, it was never a fair fight. I do hope that Sony does the right thing and releases her from her contract anyway, there is no way in hell that she will successfully release music through them ever again if she tries and with the likes of Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga getting involved, I also don't think this is going to be brushed under the carpet any time soon. I hope Kesha has a triumphant victory lap of a hit song out this year. I know I'll be buying it. She's gone from slightly irrelevant soundtrack to 2010 to front and centre of a raging storm about rape culture, feminism, gender inequality, abuse and legal red tape. I'm rooting for her so much and I hope that justice will prevail for her in some way. |

Demi needs to shut up though. I don't see how a tweet is more important than paying $250k (which can help K$ pay for legal fees since she isn't getting much income anymore)

There's a petition to Free Kesha (they obvs never help) that needs 180k to sign and is almost at the goal.

Demi's right.
Taylor only does things for her own promotion. She could offer a lot more than cash to the situation as one of the biggest popstars around right now. But she's not. She's not interested in anything but herself. |

Not sure if this has been posted here yet...
http://www.nme.com/news/kesha/91732 Dr Luke calls rape allegations 'outright lies' and says Kesha is 'free' to record music without him Last edited by Ashley.; 22-02-2016 at 06:57 PM. |

Explains why he deleted the 'damn my artists work hard' with pic of Kesh laying tweet and the 'if kesha behaves badly she gets some spanking' tweets after the court

It's a bit of an empty gesture from Taylor. She's made money from marketing herself as God's gft to feminism yet she can't be bothered to make a statement? When her words are likely to have an effect on the situation?
She's only throwing money at the situation since it makes it look like she's supporting Kesha without having to commit to it in words. |

I'm still slightly confused by the whole case, esp reading this
