Britney Spears has reportedly told doctors at her rehabilitation clinic that she has been bulimic since the age of 16.

The troubled pop princess reportedly told staff at the Promises Centre in Malibu that she has suffered from bulimia for the past nine years, although she managed to beat the eating disorder briefly during her two pregnancies.

According to an American magazine, Spears tearfully told counsellors that she “pigs out” on junk food before she makes herself vomit to avoid putting on weight.

A source told the Daily Express: "Doctors are alarmed at the physical state she is in. They confronted her about her desperately unhealthy lifestyle and the truth came pouring out.

“For the first few days, she’d take her tablets, then go off and eat breakfast or lunch. She was throwing the whole lot up, so, naturally, her medications weren’t working. Now the medical experts know why, her progress should pick up a little speed."
Awwww.. Poor Britney

Thanks Ash

And now I'm experiencing it, I don't want anyone else to go through it.

EDIT: Thanks again Linda for that website. It's really helpful.

YW Soph... I'm glad it helped. There's only so much I can do for you cuz I haven't experienced it but there will be people on that site who know exactly what you are going through and will be able to relate to what you are feeling right now.

About the weighing thing.. It's good that you recognise that you might like the result and see the weight loss as a positive thing when clearly it's not. So, you made a really good decision by not getting weighed. You might want to tell the doc that next time you see her.. explain that you don't want to know your weight. That way, if she needs to weigh you in the future, she can take a note of it without telling you what it is.

The website has helped! Thanks again. Made me understand alot more.

I know that I will have to be weighed so they can note progress and stuff, but I just don't want to. I can see that iv'e lost alot of weight, which would be good if I lost it the healthy way. I NEVER weigh myself, I'm too self concious so if I got weighed I would aughtomatically say that I'm fat... that will then lead to obsessing about my weight and then I will want to stay ill. I don't want that though.

You should definitely tell the doc about that.. and anyone else you need to see during your recovery period. That way they can note your weight without you having to know any numbers/figures (if you get me.. ).

You are on the right road girl... I have every faith in you.. you can beat this, and we will be there along the way, even if it's just to provide you with a distraction and a laugh!

hehe. Yea that's an option. I just don't do weighing scales. At 14 I was obsessed with mesuring myself with a tape measure!!

It's soo annoying because this is the only thing that's on my mind. Just worrying and stuff about it. I come on this place to distract myself from it. There's always someone on here that will make me laugh!

Like you for example.. your obsession with posting that pic of them pants!

Ummmm.. I'm starting to get scared now. I'm actually liking the weight loss. And that's the first thing I didn't want to happen.

haha. Linda, it's not as funny as the other though!

And Laura.. I just don't know what to do! I think it'll be easier for me to just stay like this, instead of having to bother with the doctors. I'm all used to everything now.

The easy option is usually the wrong option. The easy option for an alcoholic is to continue to drink, but the right option is to stop. Or for a smoker, to continue to smoke would be the easy option (believe me, I've been there) but the sensible thing is to quit (also done that and never looked back). Same for addictions etc. Even for the little things like the easy option is to lie in til noon, but realistically we have to get up and go to work/school.

Basically it's not guna be a picnic Soph. It's guna be hard, but with the right information and the right support, you can do it. You can do anything when you put your mind to it, and all you need to do is be strong and try. Like Laura, I'm also here for you, even if you just wanna laugh at pants!

Take care.. x

Put the hard work and effort in Soph and it will pay dividends in the end. As I stated previously, good on you with the progress you've made so far and keep it up.

Thanks Laura, Linda and Ash

I really do understand what your all saying. It's just going to be soo hard and Iv'e kinda got into a habit with it. I'm at a moment now where I just don't care anymore, it's like my stomach has had no food at all in around 5 weeks (maybe more, i'm not sure) and I feel that eating again is just going to shock my entire system and make me even more ill.

It will shock ur system to start with, but what you have to do is take it in stages. You can't go back to eating full meals like you used to straight away. Just step it up gradually. Maybe even write down what you eat in a day, so you can see that you are making progress. Like keeping a diary. That way you can make an effort to eat something more each day.

I've used that method before with dieting (only in the reverse obviously) but it's amazing how well it works. It gives you something to look at and then you can see that you are making progress. That way when you feel down or feel like it's pointless you can look at your book and see how far you've come. It might be an idea to write how you feel each day as well. Then hopefully you will see your attitude become more positive as you start to get back to your old self.

Just some ideas Soph. I'm no expert, but anything is worth a shot, isn't it?

Found this!>>

Quote:
National Enquirer: Stars With Deadly Eating Disorders

The good ole’ National Enquirer is running one of their tri-yearly articles about celebrities and their supposed eating disorders. Unfortunately, I’m no longer allowed to scan the entire articles in for this particular tabloid magazine, so you all will have to make do with a quick article summary. (The editor-in-chief of Nat’l Enquirer emailed me a while back telling me I’m no longer allowed to scan the articles).

Basically, the article is the same old thing about the same old celebrities. I can’t believe they are still talking about celebrities like: Thandie Newton, Hilary Duff, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Alba, Ellen Pompeo, Portia DeRossi, Nicole Richie, Angelina Jolie, Gwen Stefani and Katie Holmes. All of these women are featured - and trust me, there is absolutely NOTHING that we haven’t already read a hundred times. They are all thin, some having been too thin in the past but certainly not now. Yawn.

Oh, and they actually talk about Jennifer Aniston’s weight loss from several years ago, with a clearly altered photo. The article talkes about how she lost 30 pounds way back early in her career (not recently, as the cover suggests).

Celebrities who have gained weight in the last year or two are: Mandy Moore, Alfonso Ribeiro (from “Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Barbara Streisand, Clay Aiken, Keely Shaye Smith, Steven Segal and Kelly Clarkson.

The photos on the cover were clearly altered to look even more shocking - Nicole Richie’s legs aren’t quite THAT thin!

Anyway, that’s basically what the article is about. Same old, same old. Go out and grab a copy if you must!

Soph you didnt tell us how you are getting on honey? I hope that you are still taking those huge steps.

You mentioned in a previous post that you were scared to eat, do you know what thats normal! it's ok to be scared of something or doing something, but remember your body needs fuel and you have fed it for more times over the years than you have starved it so your body will quickly re-adjust to being fed, in fact it will love it!

Your mind might not like it but like Linda says do it a little at a time and try to write it all down, pour those feelings out, if they are on paper they are not in your mind consuming your every thought. The first big step is admitting you have a problem you have done that so now is the time to take those next steps and stay on track as much as you can. You are going to have days where you panic and think oh my god I cant do this, but then you can look at your diary and see that actually you can and have been, with luck that will encourage you no end.

I will be thinking about you Soph, you take care and remember you are not alone you are part of the huge TIBB family

I gave up recovering a very long time ago! I'm just not prepared to recover and to be honest I'd rather not recover. I'm doing fine at the moment, still haven't eaten anything and I don't have the desire to eat either. It's slipped into my daily life now. Some days I get mad that I let this go on as long as it has, but most days I'm fine about it!

But thanks so much for your support! And to everyone else on TiBB!
