I can't be bothered with any of that. I #2 clipper my face every 3 days and even then I don't bother on holidays . Though I don't have a hairy back... I'd probably get a gillette if that happened.

I'm sure all the males on this forum are happy to have the marketing department of multinational conglomerate Proctor & Gamble, advise them on what it means to be a man. I mean, most men I've met, with very few exceptions, have already known how to behave.

Guess that’s the annual kids burgers and boxing BBQ event cancelled this year. ![]() Gillette fecked up there. Imagine a load of men making a commercial public service announcement ‘mansplaining’ to women how they should be behaving. |

I remember the comedian Rita Rudner saying, if she ever goes into labour, she wants her husband on the next bed at least having his legs waxed. True equality, that is.... |

There was nothing wrong with the Gilette ad. It's just a case of a loud minority having a mass tantrum and looking for an excuse to go 'grrr feminism!'.

I mean if anyone could even vaguely convince me that the company gives a **** about men's image or women's rights or MeToo or anything other than their juicy bonus cheques that would be another matter. As it is it's hollow capitalism at its worst. |

Loads of companies 'take on causes' for the benefit of profit, the only reason so many of them support charities in the first place is for the financial benefits. It's an accepted part of business, it's hollow but it's harmless. |

SO long as we all remember it was the marketing department of Proctor and Gamble that made this ad. It's marketing, not a public service announcement.

The aim is to get you to buy their very overpriced razors. They have no other aim motive or morality

Oh no, an advert stating the obvious "acting like a prick makes you a prick".

I love the advert about bloating. Beautifully illustrated by the lady with an oversized handbag.

But no srsly, there is a "bad" side to hyper-masculinity. I won't say "toxic masculinity" because frankly I despise almost all of these "buzz terms" ("toxic masculinity", "mansplaining", "feminazi", "snowflake", the overuse of the word "problematic", etc.) BUT it is a thing that exists, in the sense that it actually RESTRICTS some men in what they can express e.g. men being afraid to cry because of the reactions of other men, and actually, of many women. I suppose the difference is... it's fine if a man doesn't want to show emotion. It's NOT fine if a man does want to show emotion but can't because he will be mocked by other men. That's the part that's... err... problematic.
The problem is when men say things or take action based purely on social expectation, when it's not what they truly think or believe or what they actually want to do. Ironically; it comes from a place of low self esteem, cowardice and lack of confidence. Confident men like me and you Alf don't give a shiny sh*t what other blokes think of us, amirite? |
