There needs to be so much more education in these countries about what these young people are being sent to, more often than not it is not the land of milk and honey that is promised but a life of slavery or prostitution and to pay handsomely for the privilege just adds to the horror of it

Traffickers often groom children, families and communities to gain their trust. They may also threaten families with violence or threats. Traffickers often promise children and families that they'll have a better future elsewhere.
Trafficking is also an economic crime. Traffickers may ask families for money for providing documents or transport and they'll make a profit from money a child "earns" through exploitation, forced labour or crime. They'll often be told this money is to pay off a debt they or their family "owe" to the traffickers.

The problem is when you live in poverty and in desperate need for money or a better life it is easy to be sold a fake dream, people are gullible when at their most vulnerable and that's how the traffickers take advantage

Yes I appreciate that but that is where education comes in, I hope this case as it seems to be getting a lot of worldwide attention will highlight the issues that they are not coming to a better life, but probably worse that what they left behind

Container deaths: Families say three lorries carrying more than 100 people were travelling to UK

The container in which 39 people were found dead was part of a convoy of three lorries, relatives of the suspected victims say.

They believe that over 100 migrants were being brought to the UK on the lorries.

Two of the vehicles are thought to have completed their trips but the third, which was carrying the deceased victims, was delayed at an unknown location.

The eventual destinations of the two other containers are not known.

Sky News cannot independently verify the accounts.

A priest in the town where many of the victims are thought to have come from also said he heard similar accounts from family members.

Father Anthony Dang Huu Nam, a Catholic priest from Vietnam's Nghe An province, said he was aware of more than 100 people who were travelling to "a new life".

"A few families confirmed the deaths of their relatives who are the victims of this tragic journey," he said.

The priest earlier said he believed most of the victims were from neighbouring impoverished provinces in Vietnam.

they will have moved on from importing drugs, seen the quicker buck in people trafficking and started making a kill years ago.

I doubt we will see a public enquiry into this tragedy as the names that may pop up shall be far to embarrassing for the uk.

if it's basically a whistle blower they will want that kept quiet until they get to the top of the tree of those involved. It could also be very dangerous for the person who informed .... these are not nice people.

Someone must have opened the container before it was hitched up and driven off in that case, unless it’s sheer coincidence they opened the one container out of three which allegedly crossed where the occupants were dead

A 23-year-old man been charged in connection with the deaths of 39 people in a lorry trailer in Essex.

Eamon Harrison appeared in court in Dublin after being detained on a European Arrest Warrant and extradition proceedings have been launched.

It comes as Essex police made a direct appeal to two other suspects.

Officers said they had spoken to one of the men, Ronan Hughes, 40, by phone. He is wanted along with his brother, 34-year-old Christopher Hughes, on suspicion of manslaughter and human trafficking.

All 39 people who died in the back of a lorry in Essex have now been named.
The bodies of the migrants were discovered in a container shipped from Zeebrugge in Belgium to the UK on October 23.
Police have now released the names and ages of the victims - as well as where they were from.
The dead include three children - two aged 15 and another was 17.
Assistant Chief Constable at Essex Police, Tim Smith, has told how challenging identifying the bodies and then having to deliver the devastating news to their families.
He said: “This was an incredibly important process and our team has been working hard to bring answers to worried families who fear their loved one may be among those whose tragic journey ended on our shores.
“Our priority has been to identify the victims, to preserve the dignity of those who have died and to support the victims’ friends and families.
