 It's no coincidence Israel's PR spin has significantly less clout in countries that have historically suffered from oppression and colonisation. What's happening is absolutely terrible, but we have the relative safety and luxury of informing ourselves of context. History unlearned from is doomed to repeat itself. Israel's apartheid state has unlawfully evicted families purely on ethnic and religious grounds. They've separated families. They've systemically eroded these people's rights. They've tortured them. A lot. For a long time. It just hasn't made your front pages. With Hamas and the apartheid state, there's only bad guys in this now. And it's true that it'll probably only end once Hamas are completely wiped out. Which could be this time. They have no chance against the IDF and less chance of getting their own land under international law back. |

Earlier, we reported on a Hamas attack at an outdoor party in Kibbutz Urim, a suburb of the city of Ofakim in southern Israel not far from Gaza.
Gili Yoskovich was there when gunfire broke out and hid in a ditch for hours to survive. "I was the first one to go out of the field," she tells the BBC. "Still people took two to three hours to go out. "And all the way people are dying. Many, many people were dying in the road," she says. "Whoever tried to run away they were shooting them from both sides." Her partner, Boaz Porat, recalls:"There was bodies right and left. "You could really see that the terrorists took out people from the car and just gunned them down." |
