Still seems like the police response was incredibly delayed though, it's insane that journalists were able to get high resolution photos of the gunmen before police arrived on the scene

It took police 4/5 minutes to arrive. I wouldn’t say that’s delayed. They aren’t everywhere at all times.

They had loads of civilians running around so they can’t just start shooting. They have to put some plan in place, especially as this isn’t a common occurrence in Australia.

They also had to try deal with baying crowd once the shooters were down. I get the crowd are angry/upset but the police were right to push them back, you never know if the shooters had explosives on them.

Unsure why people are coming for the police, when it’s the shooters people should be annoyed at.

Not coming for the police exactly, but asking questions. Jewish people are under such threat worldwide atm that it seems hard to believe that two gunmen can stroll around for several minutes picking off attendees at a Hanukkah event in a major capital city in a prime tourist location. Might be unfair but it we'll find out in due course

I’d still say 4/5 minutes is a reasonable response time.

The gunmen didn’t stroll around btw. One stayed on the bridge and the other ventured only a bit from it before retreating back to it (after being outdone by the civilian).

Unsure what people are expecting of the police. Them to be there in 30 seconds of the shooting starting? It has to be reported first before they’re even aware of it.

Jewish people are constantly under threat. Security at schools and synagogues, stab vests available before prayers, people having insults and terrible slurs thrown at them on their way to synagogue... I've said this before I know, but I've been spat at on the tube because I was wearing a small Star of David. Radical Muslims have been emboldened. Lots of people hide their Jewishness in London now, much as they did in Europe 90 years ago. And sadly, it's not Just London as today demonstrates, it's a problem that affects Jews wherever they are in the world. I think the issue has been underplayed for so long that people are shocked when something like this happens. Maybe that's why at a huge Hanukkah event on Bondai Beach, a famous tourist destination, there seemed to be no police presence at all.

The thing is Australia isn’t like the UK. Terrorism isn’t a big/common thing over there (well wasn’t). I also think the event itself was quite small, the area in which it looked to be held isn’t massive.

I’m not dismissing the seriousness of this attack, but I think people should be focussing on the perpetrators and the victims, not coming for the police until more is known about the full events.

Bondi Beach death toll rises to 16, including one child

The number of dead following the Bondi Beach shooting has risen to 16, including one child, New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park tells ABC.
It's not currently clear if the updated death toll includes either of the gunmen. Police said earlier one of the suspected attackers had been killed while another was in critical condition.

Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a British-born father of five, was identified as one of the victims killed in the shooting
Another man, identified to 7News by a relative as Ahmed Al Ahmed, who was filmed wrestling a firearm away from one of the gunman was shot twice and is in hospital

By some of witness accounts a lot who were dead were elderly, but been confirmed one child has died now in hospital. 4 others remain in hospital.

An Australian Jewish woman was on the news talking about the rising tide of anti-Semitism in Sydney since the 7th October attacks. She spoke about the disgusting graffiti, the arson of a synagogue... It's all over the world. Of course the only people to blame are the terrorists, but anti-Semitism is just not taken as seriously as it should be. Sadly, it takes something as awful as this for people to see what's happening. And even then...
