As for ready meals, I personally don't eat them. But I understand why people do; it's cheap and easy. But it's much more rewarding making food yourself.

Also, if you live in a family of 5 (me, mum, sister, brother & niece) - ready meals add up. So it's often cheaper to buy packets of rice, pasta, sauces...and cook that way.

On your own, though, I imagine, it's probably not so easy.

Lol it helps me gain weight which is good. About 12 stone now

And im the same i dont eat ready meals... once every 2 weeks or so ill buy a spag bol for like between lunch and dinner as another meal but they usually ent big enough to fill me up as a dinner.

Poor man pizza! Always a great stack... Just use thick bread, grate some cheese into a tub (mixed cheese if can)...
Cut some ham and chicken into tiny bits, fry some small mushrooms and onions in a pan of butter...
Put bread under grill, then turn over and add the cheese, meats, onions and mushrooms and pinch bit of basil over the top, plus add few thin tomato slices if need..
Under grill and wait for it to be done! Plus if want that extra taste splash abit of sauce on top or next time make a tomato sauce base and mix it with herbs...

Poor man pizza! Taking cheese on toast to the next level!

He made a point about the labour party being one of the reasons for the financial crisis. Apparently he was ON topic then.... now that I ask him to explain his views my question is now OFF topic. Dude this isn't a game... either he knows what he's talking about or he doesn't. He sounds like he doesn't given that the labour party don't control how UK investment banks buy and on-sell debt. Turtle your clearly out of your depth.... next time mate if you have an opinion and you post it on a forum... don't be a pussy and cry "off topic".

Excuse me, but some of us have to go to work to earn a living and money to survive. So it's not crying off topic. And I said I would answer your question, in the right thread, not this one.

So watch your mouth and control that attitude of yours. You only make yourself sound like the fool.

Yeah I found this thread quite interesting, seeing how different people eat and what they buy during this recession.

Some people are quite creative.

Ahahah, I only just noticed this thread, and my name is mentioned twice in it.

Aw, thanks for you concern arista. I am indeed on a tight budget, but I also don't have the £4 to travel to Asda and back just for one meal. I tend to get in the cheap noodles, pasta, sauces, meats etc.

If money is such an issue for food then surely you should be asking people to put up value menu's that can be made from fresh produce (which is cheaper) that a whole family can eat rather than a very limited selection of meals for 1 person.

My personal opinion is that ready made meals lack taste in a lot of cases and I prefer to know that the food I give to my family is good quality food and not the crappiest of cuts of meat etc.. The mince in ready meals is vile and can only possibly come from a cows backside, I would rather buy steak and have it minced then at least I know what I am getting.

Ah so now it is for the young as well, this is becoming more and more restrictive in what you see as acceptable and not acceptable to post. If you want steak go buy some, economise in some other way to do it the same as others do.
