What we are picking up is a strong number of Labour voters certainly down South, will be swinging behind the LibDems to help keep out a Con or defeat a Con.

There's likely to be more than usual tactical voting on a more planned scale this time.

No one isnt voting Tory because of Liz Truss that is bollocks, but they are for Partygate and for the huge increase in illegal migrants and failed multiculturalism

Strongly disagree, Truss was the single biggest blow to the Tories credibility

Party gate was forgiveable especially as Boris himself barely did anything. Crashing the economy was not

In the media and Westminster bubble but for the gen public it never resonated

Just a pathetic spat in a dying party

even though i haven't voted, i'm still very interested in the result and what the public saying fu to the tories will do to the future political landscape. It will also be very funny if the likes of Cleverly lose their seats

Truss caused actual financial harm to the country. Having a drink at a party did not

Making Liz Truss Prime Minister (and the process of that leadership election) was a huge political own-goal, and the main reason they are so far behind in the opinion polls. The government lost their credibility very quickly.

Beyond that though, this is a Covid election. It is part of the pattern seen across Western democracies of governments becoming unpopular and being voted out as countries deal with the after-effects of the pandemic.

Well that's true, I do think any government would probably fall after this long in power and particularly when there have been global events that would have severely negatively impacted people even under the best government

The Tories could have done a little bit less badly than they will end up having done though

i think there is just general dissatisfaction across the largest financial countries with populations just not getting the reward they feel they deserve for many, many years. I think this would be true even without covid and the war in ukraine.

This is also why immigration is a hot topic. When the economy is doing really well, no-one gives a stuff about immigration

Yeah agreed, the general global trend of the last 50 years has been towards more open borders and freer trade but people don't feel like that delivers for them anymore. We're at maybe the biggest tipping point in geopolitics and economic progression since WWI

China becoming such an economic power despite not being democratic or have much free-speech is changing the world and politics.

Same with the Gulf countries - no democracy but enormous wealth and now becoming more important in global affairs

Could say it might change when oil reserves dry up but then you have a situation like Kuwait - the only Gulf country with anything close to democracy - which is now becoming more authoritarian and their own citizens blame parliament for constraining their economy while their neighbours flourish

China is apparently in real trouble now. Due to corruption, the property market has collapsed and that feeds in to the issues with not having enough workers to pay for the OAP's. They really want couples to have 3+ children, but the young couples have small properties that only accommodate 1 child and they are not prepared to invest in bigger properties to support a bigger family, so there is no population growth.

China is basically in a downward spiral and they now need immigrants to keep the country going which is not really attractive in an authoritarian country
