they do not have the numbers to oust boris as leader, its that simple. It's not even close
I tend to believe in the natural order of things. If the people prefer what labour have to offer they will kick the tories out at the next election, but its not looking particularly likely at the moment |

Interesting times. Although there may only be 54 letters in, once there is an actual vote, a lot of people could join in and boot Boris out. I think it was a pretty stupid move from Boris supporters to criticise those who had submitted letters, that may well have been the final straw

This timing is actually pretty good for Boris I think. Remember he still has to go to the select committee over partygate which could be quite damaging but if he wins this vote he's safe for a year. I'll be amazed if he loses

2024 is actually in sight now, so I'd imagine a lot of Tories are worrying about their party's image and the safety of their seat.

i remember when thatcher had her vote of confidence and john major said he gave her his full backing, then he stood against her and became leader, so these words of support are really meaningless
 what we will know today is exactly how many mps voted against him, once that number is out in the open, its all downhill from there. It may take a year, but its inevitable |
