I had a bit of a cough when I had it but was more of a tickle, most of my friends had headaches but I never got that really although did have a sore throat and some fatigue for a couple of days

Agree that the NHS 3 original symptoms criteria is looking a bit dated now

not everyone is going to get covid, that is just not true. If herd immunity truly kicks in, then a good proportion of the community just wont get covid because the virus has no place to go, so your chance of infection drops to near enough zero even if you havent had covid before. That's how herd immunity works

To be fair if it starts to head towards "common cold territory" then ALMOST everyone will have had it eventually... how many people do you know who don't catch a cold every now and then? It obviously scales with how much you're in public though. I had colds all the time when I was in a public-facing job, really have only had a few minor sniffles since I became an office/WFH recluse.

A US teacher has been arrested after allegedly locking her Covid-positive son in a car boot to protect herself from exposure to the virus as she drove to a testing site, say local media.

Sarah Beam, 41, is reportedly charged with endangering a child.

A witness called police after hearing someone in the vehicle's trunk on 3 January at the site in Harris County, Texas, according to click2Houston.com.

The teacher reportedly opened the boot to reveal the boy lying inside.

Ms Beam said her 13-year-old son had tested positive for Covid-19 and she was taking him to the Pridgeon Stadium location for another test to confirm the result, according to local media.

She reportedly said she had placed the teenager in the car boot because she did not want to be infected herself.

A health worker told her there would be no coronavirus test until the boy was allowed to sit in the back seat of the car, reports ABC affiliate KTRK-TV.

Ms Beam has been working as a teacher at Cypress Falls High School since 2011, but is now on administrative leave, according to local media.

Cy-Fair ISD Police Department said: "CFPD was alerted that a child was in the trunk of a car at a drive-thru Covid-19 testing site earlier this week.

"Law enforcement conducted a full investigation, resulting in a warrant for arrest. Thankfully, the child was not harmed."

Sgt Richard Standifer, of the Texas Department of Public Safety, told local TV station KHOU 11 that the boy could have been seriously hurt if the vehicle had ended up in a collision.

"I have never heard of somebody being put in a trunk because they tested positive for anything," said Sgt Standifer.

Wont some of those deaths be deaths that would have been put down to flu in normal times though? The age of the people who died would be helpful

so its all bundled into one

Flu deaths are not “bundled into” Covid deaths unless the person who died of Flu also had Covid, and I don’t think there have been any such cases in the UK yet.

i checked Arista's figures against the official figures because i just don't believe that the number on ventilators has stayed exactly the same across england scotland and wales for something like a month, but that is what is being reported. Something isnt right there for sure

But covid deaths are logged 28 days after testing positive for covid so there will be some other deaths in there that are not from directly from covid some of which could be flu...we don’t know
