There are literally hundreds possibly thousands of people who go missing every year, most are found or return but some incl children are never found and because they are orphans or come from broken or uncaring homes, nobody cares. They probably never even make it onto the news.

So one case basically living on the front pages of various newspapers for years doesn't seem quite fair in my opinion.

Is it just me that thinks every time this all goes a bit quiet, they do all they can to get it on the press again when 9/10 times it comes to nothing?

We will never find out what happened and she will never be found imo.

Desperate parents - wouldn't you want to go to the ends of the earth to find out what happened to your child?

You mean..including physically searching?

And possibly allowing tests to be done on your remaining kids to make sure they werent drugged?

And being devastated at the news that death had been smelt in your apartment, rather than immediately disregarding what the dogs allegedly found?

When SY disregard the main suspect (bundleman/Jane Tanners sighting) you would put the new suspect (Smith sighting) on your site immediately..so that people are searching for the correct person, surely?

I could go on, but fear its quite pointless. The McCanns do not come across as if they care very much. I know thats an awful thing to say, but their behaviour has been totally off from the get go.

There is one who disappeared a long time ago and his parents campaign to get the case reopened iirc, I think his name was Ben something but I can't remember right now.

There was and is so much more they could have done or be doing, I don't need to post them again since they have already been posted throughout the threads and Vicky also posted a quick summary above.

Oh, also sitting on the Smith sighting for years and years. Who turns out to be the prime suspect? They did more damage to the search themselves than Amaral could ever have done tbh

Surely as a devastated parent you would use the 'fund' to follow up ALL leads, especially one in the right timeframe and area. Not totally ignore it?

The McCanns were wrong to do what they did and probably regret it every single day of their lives. For people to continue to point score because the parents went for a meal and left the children is ridiculous. The little girl got taken. THAT should be the main focus of attention not a competition to prove some people are better parents than others.

I know they admitted they'd done it plenty times prior to Maddie's disappearance but haven't heard them say they've done it since.

The fact they would even contemplate doing it since Maddie was taken is unbelievable.

Maybe when the parents admit that they were wrong rather than coming out with rubbish such as a social worker told them their behavior was well within the bounds of responsible parenting(if true that social worker should be sacked immediately), and that they did nothing at all wrong that night..people will stop bringing it up. Maybe not, but they have NEVER admitted they were wrong to go on the piss and leave 3 small kids alone. Neither have their friends as far as I am aware, who also neglected their kids (though some had the sense to use a baby monitor aswell as checking..which is slightly better)

Also there is no proof at all that the girl was 'taken' besides the words of the McCanns...no DNA, no fingerprints, no signs of burglary, zilch.

However I agree that the main focus of attention should be finding out what happened to her, and finding her (or her body)

'Redwood said the assumption that Madeleine had been alive when she left the apartment "may not follow with all our thinking" on the case.'

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2...-girls-algarve

Hmm. Ignoring the rest because basically I think its more rubbish that will lead to nothing, SY thinking, or even considering that MM was dead upon leaving the apartment is very interesting. Especially given the dogs..maybe they were right?

Cadaverine takes 2 hours to develop. If this intruder removed a dead body, the body must have been there for 2 hours at least. Which means either they killed her then went back for the body (which messes up the timelines a bit..) or she was dead when the intruder entered and they chose to take a corpse :S

Or the parents accidentally killed her, calmly went for dinner, came back every so often to check they were still asleep, eventually realised she was dead and got rid of the body... makes far more sense to me...

I think they gave her too much sleeping medication and it killed her, so they dumped the body

Yes and they could have realistically not realised she was dead for over two hours if they were out at dinner all evening with their friends and only popping their head round the door to check the kids were all still in bed every so often, which would explain the presence of cadaverine.
