[Chancellor Rachel Reeves has delivered her Budget after the details were released early by mistake Income tax thresholds will be frozen until April 2031 - a year longer than expected - meaning more people will pay higher rates as their pay increases There will also be new taxes on homes worth more than £2m and £5m; a mileage charge e for electric vehicles; tax on pension contributions above £2,000; and changes to Isa rules. BBC:
[It has taken the markets a while to decide whether they like the budget or not - but the response now seems to be solidly positive. The pound went up and government borrowing costs went down when the OBR's document appeared online early, by mistake - both signs that the Budget was going down well. That went into reverse around 12:00 - but as traders digested their lunches and the full details of the chancellor's speech, sentiment began to improve. By 15:15, the effective interest rate on the benchmark government bond was down about 0.05 percentage points from the moment the OBR document first emerged - indicating increased faith in the state of the UK's public finances. The pound was up around half a cent against the dollar.] |

It's not as bad as I expected.
Only time will tell if it starts to do enough however. However it's on the surface not that bad an effort at this time. I expected much worse. |
