Portugal are dodgy at the moment and Ronaldo might miss the first leg. Russia are shakey and I don't think they'd like to play a physical side like us. France are erratic but they have the tradition and the ability to turn it on when need calls. They're always dangerous....depends what French side arrives. I'd have preferred any of the rest to them.

i think if ireland keep it tight and get a clean sheet first leg and maybe even nick a goal then the pressure will be on the french in front of their own fans

I agree. If we lose tonight it will be the fourth game in a row we would have lost. Benitez needs to stop relying on big players like Torres and Gerrard all the time.

WALTER SMITH has paid tribute to Nacho Novo as the Spaniard stands poised to match the achievements of three Rangers legends.
If the little striker scores tonight against Unirea Urziceni, the goal will be his 12th for the Light Blues in UEFA matches. That would make him the joint second-top scorer for the club alongside Ralph Brand, Alex Scott and Jimmy Millar. Of course, Novo would still be some way behind the SPL champions' all-time scorer on the continent Ally McCoist, who bagged 21 goals in all at that level. Even so, reaching the dozen mark would be a fine accomplishment for a man who only moved to Ibrox a little over five years ago. Smith said: "It's great that Nacho finds himself in that situation. Everyone looks upon him as a player who drifts in and out of the team but his record speaks for itself. "If he could get one more goal to pull beside the likes of Millar, Brand and Scott it would be a tremendous achievement. "They are three players who were at Ibrox for long periods of time when I was a boy, whereas Nacho has only had five full seasons with the club. "It would be great to see him do it. He's one of those players who is a bit frustrating at times and I tell him that myself but he comes up with the goods on a regular basis too. "I've got to say Nacho has been fantastic for us over the period of time I've been back here."
