That's what happens when you allow Yanks who don't have a clue about the game take over your club

Actually yeah, got a lot of respect for Lerner and he's actually a fan of the sport and that makes a big difference

That's another reason I'll never bitch about Bill Kenwright, as frustrating as it can be not having the money for players, he remortgaged his house to plough money into the club, I'd rather have him than some muppet who doesn't have a clue racking up debts left right and centre

I dont think thats true. When Tevez or Milner moved people soon stopped making such accusations. Rooney won every major trophy at Old Trafford except the FA Cup why shouldn't he seek a change and go to a club where he'll be the main man for years to come and they'll pay him as well as anyone in football.

Footballers wages may be out of hand but this is what we have to put up with. I know that if I was a top professional in a field and I saw other lesser professionals being paid higher wages than myself, I'd be looking to move. I wouldn't think twice and most people would do the same.

Tevez was a completely different case though, he wasn't wanted at Utd so who can blame him for going somewhere that he is, and it's certainly paying off for him now because he's in fantastic form. All he wanted was to play and he wasn't getting that at Utd.

I agree with you in some ways, 'don't hate the player hate the game', but I really think it depends on the type of person you are, for example take Mikel Arteta, who is arguably good enough to be in the Spanish national team, he could have gone to the likes of Arsenal, Seville etc for a lot more money than he's on at Everton but he feels a sense of loyalty to the club, granted that's very rare these days but it just shows who is in it for the love of playing the game and who is in it for the money imo.

Success doesn't mean the same in my eyes if you've bought your way to a league title, which is bascially what Man City are doing with the amount of money they've spent on players. Some sort of cap needs to be put in place, otherwise the problem is just going to get worse.

As an Arsenal fan I'd have loved to see Arteta at the Emirates. I think he should have gone cuz we'd be so much stronger with him but I dont blame him for being loyal.

Kind of agree with you about Man City but I'll be happy if they break up the Man Utd and Chelsea domination.

If he was going to go anywhere then it would have been back to Spain, I really admire his loyalty, like I said you don't get much of it these days. Gerrard is one of the only other players I can think of that shows total loyalty to his club, even considering the problems Liverpool have been having. Noone would blame him for leaving.

Meh, Man City are probably my most hated team in the league, my preference would be for Arsenal to take the title with Man City failing to even make Champions League again

Wayne Rooney could walk away from Manchester United next summer for just Ł5 million due to a little-used FIFA ruling.

The Webster ruling allows players to buy out the last year of their contracts for the price of their wages plus a nominal compensation fee, meaning that the England talisman could leave for less than a tenth of his market value.

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/191020...-leave-5m.html

Everton fans better hope he goes in January.

first going from a Liverpool team to a Manchester team, now swapping Manchester teams or maybe going Chelsea. pure madness yep you keep following the ŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁŁ Rooney, if you're hearts not in it (which also includes loyalty) then you'll have no respect from the fans

Personally I never liked him and never saw the hype from him moving from Everton. He's a good player but no player is ever bigger than the club or the team, it will be a bit of a struggle esp with Utd going through a bad patch but we'll see it through

This is exactly how I feel about it too. He only left Everton because of the ŁŁŁ, he still supports us and even bought his son an Everton kit, wanted to play for us in the testimonial against Liverpool, he could have been a legend at the club but he chose to go to Utd, okay maybe fair enough with Utd being arguably the biggest club in the world and he's had great success there, but his heart has never been in it imo. May as well go to City if all he cares about is the money now, but he'll be hated for it.

I think Ma City may be contenders for the title. They've already beaten Chelsea. We wont win it. Fabregas will get injured or something and we'll be done. Man Utd though might struggle to make the Champions league. I'd p*ss myself if they didn't make it.

Coventry 1-2 Cardiff

3 minutes in, a ball is crossed into Covs box, no-one reaches it and it goes out of play. Everyone assumes its a goal kick and starts running back. Meanwhile the assistant on the side of the pitch is going ape and trying to get the refs attention. Ref goes over, they talk for about 30 seconds and the ref now decides it was a penalty for shirt pulling. Very ridiculous how the assistant standing 25 yards away telling the ref standing 5 years away what to do. I'm looking forward to the highlights to see why it was given, as from where I was sitting it looked nothing like blocking a goal scoring opportunity

Coventry pull one back with a nice goal just before half time.

Second half is Cov all over Cardiff for the first 20mins or so. Crowd are unusually raleighing behind the home side as there's an atmosphere that we could actually win this and we don't need to play for a draw. Cardiff play the same ball over and over, kicking the ball from left defence over to far right, and then running at our left back. They probably played that move 6 times in the second half, and the last time they tried it in the 85th minute it got through and they scored.

Disappointing result for Cov, even though it was a game we were "supposed" to lose that game. We move from 7th to 9th, so are still in the top half.

Bellamy was boo'd every touch of the ball, and it was affecting his play a lot and he ended up being sub'd

Oh well, Barnsley on Saturday at home to look forward too now

I don't know, it's pretty tight at the top still, we're only 8 games in and there have been some strange results already, I definitely don't think Man Utd will win this year, especially if Rooney does go. I said to Ben (30stone) that I've got a feeling about Arsenal this year and having seen your game tonight I feel it even more so. Wilshere is gonna be a star for you this year, and Fabregas is just on another level. When you play at your best I think you're the best team in the PL, plus you've still got loads of key players out injured.

Mourinho says if Rooney became availible thenhe would want him (and he actually said that, allbeit half heartedly)

I think Spain is just what he wants, not as much media, Real Madrid are a multi national club (kind of like Man U)

Man Utd have been terrible this year, coming from a Utd fan they don't deserve to win, at all, and it would be a farce if they did unless they seriously up their game. They couldn't even beat West Brom (although they're doing pretty well so far this year)

I think this year is another one for Arsenal or Chelsea, I'd put my money on Chelsea though. I think Man City will peak before Christmas and they'll drop down to around 7th place by May as they start to face the bigger teams

Swansea will finish 6th and get into the play-offs's. Dunno if they will win them or not because that requires an amount of luck. Cardiff will finish 3rd or 4th.

Blackpool got only 1 point more than Swansea. They were as good as Blackpool last season, they just got abit of bad luck and missed the Play-Off's by a single point.

We play pretty football but when it dont work we cant just get the ball down the flank into the box and have a player with the power to knock it in a Drogba or Rooney or even Torres. Chamack may be the answer but I still think we need to play people off the park to win. I still think we're very beatable.

Man City have got a HUGE squad of quality players. A player of David Silva's quality can barely get a game. They're gonna struggle to keep them all happy but I think they'll always get good results.

I think this year is another one for Arsenal or Chelsea, I'd put my money on Chelsea though. I think Man City will peak before Christmas and they'll drop down to around 7th place by May as they start to face the bigger teams
If I were a Man Utd fan I'd be very concerned that two of your best players on in their mid 30's and still out performing the young 'uns. Giggs and Scholes cant last forever and if you lose Rooney? I'm not sure how well you'll do.

LANDON DONOVAN has opened the door for a return to Goodison Park on loan in January by admitting it would be difficult to turn down Everton.

The USA international enjoyed a successful three-month spell with the club last season and manager David Moyes made it clear he would love him back.

Apparently the MLS originally said that they wouldn't be allowing him to go out on loan anywhere during their off season this year but Landon has convinced them to change their mind. I'd have him back in a heartbeat, helped turn our season around last year, and he can play either as a RS midfielder or up front as striker. I'd actually love to have him full time but Galaxy will ask for too much considering he's 28, that's if they would even sell him.

I agree so far we've been terrible, however theres long till end of the season... I reckon Fergie will sign a few people in January to make up for Rooney going e.g Benzema as part of the Rooney deal is a possibility.

As for Rooney can't fault what he has done for the club last couple of seasons but all thats happened this season is his own fault and no wonder people are turning against him, can't see him going to City no matter how much they offer either LOL.
