And it's fair enough to make tour second point but madonna has been around a lt longer so is known by more people GaGAs music is aimed at the younger generations so it's more lilly that these people know who she is. Similarto how under 18s are unlikely to know madonnas early music unless they go looking for it

Madonna's most famous songs are her earlier ones. The point is more people know of Madonna and her music because whether you like her or not, she's a music icon that's had more impact then Gaga and many other acts can ever hope to achieve. Madonna's one of the reasons we have so many successful female artists because she opened the gates as well as impacting the public's impression on feminimity and sexuality.

In contrast Lady Gaga has gone to some award ceremony dressed in a curtain.

Gaga MIGHT be nearly as successful and respected as Madonna one day but she's nowhere near that level now.

This isn't a debate, Madonna has had a longer and more impactful career then Gaga for the moment. She's also managed to re-invent herself to stay relevent to the times and was a cultural phenomenom.

Gaga's done ***** all in comparision. Give her a few years to see if she can maintain this level of fame before this question is seriously asked.

I can see where your coming from, and I don't think I'd ever say she was the greatest artist ever.

And what does that say about her exactly? Behind it all she's never been this "quirky". In fact, watch all of the vids of her performing in local bars and clubs. She looked rather normal.
