..ahh ok, I've never seen anyone saying that because of a post count reason but I have seen new members be insulted because they were being a bit rude or aggressive..I know on other forums I'm on, post counts are noticed more because you can only make threads when you have a minimum post count...(I can't remember how many it is though..)...

that's nothing to do with post counts..

people blaming post counts for dividing members

yeah it's nothing to do with the existence of cliques or the fact that the person being targeted isn't a regular. removing post count won't change ANYTHING. cliques and 'regulars' will still remain

a music forum I mostly lurk has a function for members to hide their join dates/post counts and most of the regulars do, but there's still cliquey behaviour

When new people come on here we don't need to see a post count to know they're new. And they don't need to see a post count to know some of us know each other and have been around longer. What I do see sometimes is someone new accusing someone of being superior because they have a higher post count, usually when the new person is here specifically to tell us where we've been going wrong all this time. Post counts don't count in Chat and Games. That's the way it is. I personally can't understand why not because no one can say the rest of the forum is so much worthier and that utter tosh never gets posted anywhere other than Chat and Games. Also, in off-season, Chat and Games pretty much keeps this place going so to write it off as not worthy of being counted sounds ridiculous to me. However, it has been decided that's the way it is and I'm happy to go with that.

What worries me more is that there is no way to appeal. Because it was abused it was removed for everyone. The mods to a thankless job, but the members keep this place walking and for there to be no way for a member to appeal a decision in a adult way defies my understanding.

People can and do use the private message function to appeal, and also if they reply to the TiBB Staff message that gives them the infractions then either myself, James or Vicky receives those through email and we post it in the admin forum to discuss it.

People don't always get a reply when they PM. It's not consistent.

..yeah that was my thought that people can fairly much see who posts regularly and that they seem to know each other so I don't think that a high post count has any effect of being intimidating in any way...and I also agree that it's frustrating not to have a proper appeal section or a section where you can discuss things that you may want to..maybe not exactly like before if that didn't work so well but a 'private' room or something..

Yes, I get that Josy. Maybe a standard message just saying that the point in question doesn't concern the enquirer and a conversation will not be forthcoming might be better, and it might go some way to stop people trying that route.

Anyhoo, thanks... and this conversation has raised my post count by four! :-)

Are you trying to say every post in every other forum is a well contracted/meaningful thought?

Most of that is "Oooh we got some shade" gifs and constant diva/gorilla with a breathing tube/pop bitches gifs.

chat and games exists solely for that kind of thing, so it shouldn't count.

all the other forums exist for constructive or meaningful discussion, but of course it won't be like that 100% of the time
