Just expected to do better than that I think and saw UKIP eat into a lot of their support in their core areas in the north and the midlands. They were always going to have gains but if the local election results replicated themselves in 2015 they'd never get a majority government

This was about the time that BNP peaked about 5 years ago with that Griffin election and his appearance on Question Time, it's been basically downhill ever since

Front National are basically a more successful BNP. Both parties with murky history's where they were unashamedly racist but have tried to moderate themselves to gain more mainstream appeal. The BNP came close to doing it a few years ago but ultimately refused to moderate their message enough to get more widespread support, Front National have been a lot more willing to go back on what they've said and done in the past in order to sweep up more votes

There's no real 'winners' of a European election, but if we're talking UK national vote share and number of MEPs elected then yes it looks like they'll have the most
