I just did a google search and literally nothing came up about Of Mice & Men being removed from anywhere. I searched for the title itself, added news and then the names of various news sites yet nothing came up.
It's not exactly 'everywhere' if I can't find an article about it on any major news sites that would have been one of the first results to pop up. I can search Gone With The Wind and Little Britain and articles about the recent controversies are their top results, the same can't be said for Of Mice & Men. John Cleese has laid into the "cowardly and gutless and contemptible" BBC after an episode of Fawlty Towers was removed from a BBC-owned streaming platform.
A 1975 episode titled The Germans was taken off UKTV's streaming service because it contains "racial slurs". In it, the Major uses highly offensive language, and Cleese's Basil Fawlty declares "don't mention the war". Cleese wrote on Twitter: "The BBC is now run by a mixture of marketing people and petty bureaucrats." He added: "I would have hoped that someone at the BBC would understand that there are two ways of making fun of human behaviour. "One is to attack it directly. The other is to have someone who is patently a figure of fun, speak up on behalf of that behaviour." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-53020335 So John isn't happy |

It's fine, the use of the word in its context is fine. It wasn't being used to insult anyone, apart from the old racist man who made himself look stupid by using it.

The most recent article I can find about Of Mice and Men was from 2015 when parent's in America tried to have it pulled from the Curriculum
https://www.theguardian.com/books/20...john-steinbeck Can't see anything more recent. It may have been an old article you spotted Zizu?

It may have been something like that but quoted / recycled by someone else on Twitter/Instagram/ Reddit/etc .. “everywhere” you look now you’ll see someone naming a classic tv series that’s ‘supposedly ‘ been banned - I’ve lost count how many different tv series have been pulled/withdrawn now for example. We (like basically everyone) did OMaM at school when I was about 15, and our (small, female, high-voiced) teacher did the voices of George and Lennie in a theatrical deep southern drawl.
It remains one of my fondest and most hilarious memories of school. |

Being forced to act out like an amateur dramatic society, scenes from The Crucible is one of my worst school memories.

Roots shows the horrors of slavery from a black perspective, it doesn't contain blackface or harmful stereotypes of black people that diminish their suffering.
Anyone that thinks that Roots is comparable to Little Britain or Gone With The Wind are missing the point. |

My daughter was made to watch it at school, it impacted on her very badly. She had nightmares, however this is normal... If we were all confronted visually with the realities of slavery, subjugation and oppression we would all have nightmares.
You shouldn't sugar coat history, accountibility is important if we acknowledge and accept the ills of the past then that's right and fair for me. Ignoring, denying, glamourising or failing to address objectively questionable periods in our history is counterproductive. It's time to stop protesting and have proper adult conversations as to how we address concerns and move forward.
