The discrimination and prejudice against addicts is every bit as bad as racism, imo.

It's repulsive to me how people are willing to demonize people just for finding SOMETHING in this world that makes life bearable. How DARE you judge.

Also, I dont really get the comparison to being a homophobe/racist/sexist

People cant help what colour/sex/sexuality they are...you cant really change that. You can however, stop taking drugs.

It is a choice (in most cases, I know there are some disorders etc) for fat people to eat AS MUCH as they do, or the amount of rubbish they do... to get that size.

Addicts come from all backgrounds, and we can never know what put whitney on this path, i will agree that it makes addicts feel good but i have NEVER met an addict i would describe as self-centred. Underlying social and psychological issues are usually the main reason why people turn to drugs.

I think it depends on the drug a lot of the time. Party drugs tend to attract self centred people, and I think part of drug addiction is that the addict becomes very selfish, or at least is seen to be by their nearest and dearest. But you're right, everyone is different and you can't just tar people with the same brush - the reason why a homeless person takes drugs is almost certainly completely different from why the child of a rich socialite takes drugs.
