Piers Morgan
@piersmorgan Already one of the most iconic photographs in American history - and one that I suspect will propel Donald Trump back to the White House. |

I don't get how some people have let their hatred for Trump get so out of hand that they're celebrating a near assassination attempt of him? I would've understood it more if this had've happened during January 6th. But Trump was just at one of his rallies, that doesn't give anyone the right to assassinate him or any of his fans. I'm still rooting for the Democrats/Biden, but the "it's all a hoax" camp and the "let's celebrate" camp aren't helping the Democrats campaign here. Just like how some Republicans and some of their voters didn't cover themselves in glory during January 6th, some of the Democrat voters aren't here. The Media in America have hopefully been taught a lesson here too, because both sides keep stoking the flames and look what has happened. Politics is an important part of everyone's lives, but it's not supposed to be a literal life and death scenario, people need to put it into perspective. If Trump gets elected and he starts behaving like a dictator, then discussions about what to do with him could be had, but not whilst he is just rallying. My rant is over, sorry guys. ![]()

This was just 6 days ago......
We chose the cover image, based on a well-known 1932 Hitler campaign poster, for a precise reason: that anyone transported back to 1932 Germany could very, very easily have explained away Herr Hitler’s excesses and been persuaded that his critics were going overboard. After all, he spent 1932 campaigning, negotiating, doing interviews—being a mostly normal politician. But he and his people vowed all along that they would use the tools of democracy to destroy it, and it was only after he was given power that Germany saw his movement’s full face. Today, we at The New Republic think we can spend this election year in one of two ways. We can spend it debating whether Trump meets the nine or 17 points that define fascism. Or we can spend it saying, “He’s damn close enough, and we’d better fight.” We unreservedly choose the latter course. And so we have assembled herein some of our leading intellectual historians of fascism; a member of the fourth estate who learned firsthand what the Trump lash feels like; a leading expert on civil-military relations; a great Guatemalan American novelist with a deep understanding of immigrants’ lives; one of our most incisive cultural critics; and a man with all-too-real experience in living under a notorious authoritarian regime. The scenarios they describe are certainly grim. We dare you to say, after reading these pieces, that they are impossible. Last edited by Crimson Dynamo; 14-07-2024 at 10:34 AM. |

Nigel Farage MP
@Nigel_Farage I will fly out to America this week to support my friend Donald Trump at the RNC. We all have a duty to support and defend democracy. |

Astonishing photograph captures the moment a bullet whizzed past Trump's

I was watching the BBC news this morning and a witness said he saw the wannabe assassin at the top of a building holding a rifle.
The witness was shouting at Trump's security guys, 'look up there - a man with a rifle!!!!' He said the security guys didn't look interested. I guess that would fuel speculation of an 'inside job'. |

Trump had his life threatened, it's not remotely the same level of threat imo.

I regularly see parallels between Milkshakes and gunshots.

If someone is able to milkshake a politician at an event, they could carry out an acid attack. That's what the comparison implies, anyway.

The Reform UK leader told the BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg: “The narrative that is
put out there about Trump by the liberals that oppose him is so nasty, so unpleased, that I think it almost encourages this type of behaviour.” |

Him being shot at is going to fire up his base yes, I’d even expect violence in the streets because his lot love that, but it’s not going to make anybody switch their votes over to him, especially when his horde are sounding even more extreme and crazy as a result of this, undecided voters are going to be looking at the reaction to this from both sides and a dignified, powerful response from Biden/Harris trying to calm down the atmosphere, alongside the crazies screaming for more blood and retribution than they’ve already been doing for 3 1/2 years, is really going to show how different the two sides are
