on the new strains????? how much study have they done, we only found out about SA about a month ago lol! arent they moving to J&J which is 66%?

I find the decision very strange consider AZ is the only vaccine so far which has data on a reduction in virus transmission

on the new strains, they have found out Pfizer and Moderna can be quickly adjusted to also be effective against those

So in their current state they are less effective then...the same as AZ?

Have they started work on adjusting the vaccines do you know?

I know they Jansen one isn't as effective in its current state either

its all a bit suss isn't it? is AZ the only one being rolled out at cost? and the different in price between it and Pfizer is astronomical, who is getting a massive backhander for these decisions I wonder

AZ we don't know much about, other than the effectiveness percentage being far lower than other vaccines, and that is not very hopeful towards us to give that (with uncertainty) to the 65+ age group where we of course want more certainty of

+ AZ not good against SA mutation
Thats why I think the Oxford vaccine is better for people younger than 60.
Older people should get the Pfizer or Moderna, ideally.

in current state they are more effective than AZ for the original strain still

well i know that because it was reported end of last year, a test they did

also i believe scientists over politicians as well, but our scientists just tell us other facts than yours

Well, I have always been suspicious of this pfizer one tbh, not that its got dodgy stuff in or anything, but that it happened to be the first approved. Then the oxford one seemed to be better, yet the pfizer one was still pushed. Figured certain people might have vested interests. BUT, would they really drag this out even longer because of a bit of cash?

Mind, they ****ed our original 'lockdown way out' for cash I guess..by giving cash to mates instead of getting working test and trace, so...who knows.

Not saying the scientists are dodgy there btw. But the government have a very hit and miss way of 'listening to the science', or it seems that way. They ignore the science when it suits, and the scienntists themselves seem...almost gagged except for whispering in boris' ear.

Ahh are the companies basicaly joining forces? (I thought oxford, and astrazeneca were different vaccines..)

If so, that is a great thing surely, can take all the good bits from each and make a...super vaccine.

Unless thats science fiction also. Not a sciencey person, if thats not obvious

Mind I do wonder, what the worlds respnse would have looked like if it was JUST the scientists, making the decisions. I have a feeling it would have been very very different. Our government especially, have ignored the science in..the worst places it seems. Though its hard to put myself in the position they are in, where they have to balance science/lives v economy.
