...what I don’t understand is my area, Suffolk is oooooo, right down there at the bottom...and yet it’s one of the at risk areas which is being monitored for a possible local lockdown...
..
Gloucestershire were named as one of the 36 who could face lockdown as well and there we are at 0.6

There's a lot of warnings being raised now about misleading reports on areas being 'close to lockdown': https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/53248531

I'm not surprised.

Really nothing should be ruled out with still much uncertainty with this rotten virus.

A Possible Covid-19 change

[Scotland has been taking a distinctly
more cautious approach to
easing restrictions, and there have even been
claims that the SNP is using the crisis
to fuel the drive for independence.]

I really cannot stand this man.
I'd like to think he tones down his more ugly threatening stance as to his plans.

Presumably he knows, unlike anyone else, just what the situation will be in areas or across the Nation in September!

He may think he does in his arrogance.
In reality likely not however.

There's only one person politicising covid here and it's Mr Johnson... and the fact that he would try to insist on free travel between England and Scotland even if the virus was under control in Scotland, and having a second spike in England... to make a political point... is nothing short of sociopathy.

I totally agree with you here TS.

The Scottish administration has to keep all its options open.

Well, this sounds another recipe for possible disastrous results.

I wonder what Parents think of having said as long as social distancing was in place, it should be fine..
That he's now not going to enforce social distancing.

Yet these children will be returning home to adults and wider family , teachers to their families too.

I'd like to see completely any proper scientific advice as to this.
It sounds both suspect and worryingly risky.

...when Boris said there was no such thing as a border between Scotland and a England, did he attempt a Scottish accent there...?...

...it’s surely no different to the local lockdown in Leicester atm, in that travelling in and out of there is discouraged...which is essentially what Nicola is trying to do, to safeguard lives...Boris is talking about the tourist industry/Nicola is talking about people’s lives and health...

Dead right Ammi.
Frankly I kind of wish she was influencing things in England.

She's talked far more sense and more compassionately than the present resident, sadly, of 10 Downing Street.
In my view anyway.

Scotland is now at between 0 and 3 deaths per day (usually 0 or 1) so the situation is entirely different, England is still regularly recording 150+ deaths per day. The couple of weeks may well have been the difference, there may be other factors, but it's very hard to argue that the situations are comparable any more - even adjusting for population size.
