None of the games after the original have been as good, specifically because Max's "time manipulation" power was the most interesting mechanic of the first game and what made it so fun and engaging. Hopefully bringing her back with the same (and extra) powers will make this one good. I suspect that's WHY they've brought her back, despite how the first game ended.

''did you save arcadia bay or did you save chloe in the first game''



also because there being two universes in this game

maybe your chosen ending is the main timeline, and the other is automatically the alternate timeline

could see chloe making a physical appearance in the game maybe chapter 2 or 3, voiced by Rihanna DeVries most likely too since she already did motion capture and voice work once again as Chloe what she teased + we hear Max saying in the trailer ''who can i trust'' regarding this whole new murder mystery/investigation, could see Max contacting Chloe to come over and help with the investigation as a outsider to this but this is just my theory though, and Chloe's absence in the trailer, easy to explain maybe the trailer is the save arcadia bay ending and even in save chloe ending, Max went to study in Vermont herself? and maybe Chloe went to bond further with David in Away

the whole ''we were high school sweethearts'' or ''we were friends'' dialogue option to Safi in the parallel realm also easy to explain, that ain't the main timeline so, so you get different dialogue choices obviously

They missed a real opportunity there to be honest, to encompass the choice in the first game into the gameplay itself. Don't ask the question of which choice was made - simply make it BOTH - and that the choice Max made created two alternate realities. Have it that Max's power this time around includes the ability to jump back and forth between the two realities (and can even bring items along). Find things in one reality that can be used to solve puzzles in the other. Etc.

Maybe a little too close to Alan Wake 2 I suppose.

my final prediction of what i think


two versions of this game having been made

one with the Bay ending, involving a arcadia bay character like Warren maybe? or Joyce

one with the Bae ending, with Chloe in a crucial role instead of what i mentioned in the former

Max is accused of murdering Safi, that is where either Chloe or Warren/Joyce comes into the picture, whichever ending you chose, to bail Max out, Max helped Chloe with the investigation into finding Rachel, what happened to Kate, etc,

in the other ending, Joyce always liked Max too also sort of ''family'' or Warren who is her best friend (but tbh in the Bae ending, those two can technically appear in the alternative timeline or another reality she can step into)


we do know Victoria is alive in both timelines, same as David, so Victoria survived the storm then, i wonder what Victoria her role will be in this game

how much budget did they have, i mean must be quite some budget, if they want to do both endings of LiS1 justice (like they said they would) two different trauma's tbh

(BAE: the whole aftermath of arcadia bay being destroyed by the storm, BAY: having sacrificed your best friend - crush to save arcadia bay


i understand for the most important storylines it's best to have no returning characters other than Max involved in those, a lot of work and budget to create two different stories, but you could have Chloe return for those who chose the BAE ending as a nice inbetween moment of calmth trying to figure out who killed Safi but not having Chloe interact with other Caledon characters

same goes for those who have the BAY ending, but then with like i mentioned Warren or someone like Joyce (since Max always had been close to Joyce as well in her childhood)



i mean telltale walking dead also had many different endings in their games and all were perfectly made either



so yeah in BAE: a Chloe cameo in the beginning and halfway down and towards the ending makes sense to do, in BAY: you have it easier where you can have a much more simple intro, and in bay chloe can appear too technically in the alternate timeline and in nightmare scenes, same vice versa

as for Max's trauma

in the Sacrifice Chloe ending, she still has trauma from what she experienced in the dark room, seeing Chloe get shot twice, possibly seeing Kate commit suicide, finding Rachel's body however then she cannot talk about this due to it technically never happened apart from Chloe having died


in the Sacrifice Arcadia Bay ending, she can talk about all that trauma however there is a chance she might be seen as a ''murderer'' for having chosen one over the many so might also be more not wanting to talk about it for that reason


and honestly that scenario with the storm, was like to quote it in star trek terms Max's own Kobayashi Maru no win scenario

the only person who could help Max with this trauma, and for those who have the Sacrifice Arcadia Bay ending, Chloe might be quite crucial for that

i have to say it is a great way to respect both endings of the first game with

with a simple question in a chat between Max and Safi, about Chloe's fate either ''we broke up'' (alive) and ''she died'' (dead) endings, which has major consequences for the rest of the game, in terms of dialogue choices regarding arcadia bay or chloe, or possible crosstalk posts and phone messages from either Chloe or Arcadia Bay residents

and indeed,

even with sacrifice arcadia bay ending, Victoria is now confirmed to be among those who survived that

aside from all that

good start to the game, really feels as authentic Life is Strange and i must also say this is better than the first game, and gameplay wise somewhat the same as True Colors, also feels refreshing to see Max but then gotten a lot older but still being same old Max Caulfield, quirky photography nerd, although looking hotter than before




as for the murder,

whoever called Safi, i think is responsible for her death, and i also think her poetry has got to do something with it but idk what, and i also don't trust that Abraxas society club, not after the whole shady Vortex Club from the first game

i'm not missing Chloe too much, and honestly their break-up, well it is complicated, Chloe still loves Max, always will but Max is unable to move on from the past, so they went their separate ways

Safi, she's really what Rachel was to Chloe, for Max kinda, also Max having to see her dead body on that bench, while she already has a lot of trauma in her life, sacrificing a whole town for her best friend or sacrificing her best friend to save a whole town, both of which she cannot publicly talk about, since that would come across as murder, or in the latter, you can't talk about things that haven't happened but what you remember from a alternate timeline
