Default Remember when members of the UK general public used to be picked as housemates?

Or maybe it's never been like that.
Maybe the HM's have always consisted of:

Friends of previous winners
Relatives of Endemol employees
Promotions girls
Relatives of Premier league footballers
Rich people who can buy themselves (and thier girlfriends) into the house

Davina's milkman
Dreamboats from other reality shows.

I really think us ordinary plebs should be aware of this before we make the effort to audition.

This show is now so far removed from it's origional intentions. It started as a social experiment now it's a popularity contest between rich people and c-list celebrities and us mortals pick up the phone and part with our money like fools.

A bloody monkey could tell you why people don't watch it anymore.

I totally agree.

BB is more of a dying soap opera than a reality show now.

Thank god this will be its last year.

For some reason i've kept watching for the last 9 years hoping it would be as good as the first, they had a decent set of people in, who had no idea about the fame/money etc, it was all about the experience....

yes thats true!

it barely feels like the housemates are like the general pubilic, which was a strong key of the show

It's a funny little coincidence but when housemates started to realise that they would not neccessarily get famous from the show - BB started to include people who were already on the periphery of fame. Wierd.

Yeah I remember those days, seems like so long ago.

But hey wtf, my cousin has a mate whose sister is the aunt of the of the man who drives the delivery of food to the BB studios at Elstree.

Do you reckon thats good enough for me to go in as a housemate either this series or if there is a BB11 then on that one

i think, that they are only putting in people in there who some may have already seen before or heard of to convince people to watch the show!

they do deserve low ratings

It's a complete joke really. I ain't the most hardcore big brother fan you will ever see.

But as i see it, it's not about REAL people anymore. Only one or two of them in the house can string a full sentence together. The show should NOT be this long. It's far too long. June to September? Must be having a laugh, get real.

And yes, a yank in the BB UK house. What is up with that?

The best series by far was BB3.

Years ago BB in the US put in housemates ex partners, BB Uk are just moving with the times. Hosnestly, if it was the same old dreary format, even us dedicated fans would not be watching.

Peace out

There wasn't the same ego's in the house, so they seemed to get on a lot better as a group, just cause a lot more mischief and not constantly talk about how they may be percieved on the outside....there was much more of a sense of fun....i've not seen much fun being had in the last few....

EXCELLENT POST and I 100% agree and may your words be repeated to Big Brother relentlessly until they start to get the message.

For me, the loyal BB purist who actually bought a computer and got online specifically FOR watching Big Brother (yes old skool here),
but that amazing and fascinating social experiment has all but completely passed away.
As you say this is now professional reality show 'actors' like Noirin and Isaac,
It is now reduced to different countries producers trading their talent back and forth,
its models like Kris, Sophie, Karly who's Agents got tight with Endemol Agents,
I have no doubt you are correct that friends of Davinas have enough money to buy a spot,
It is as everyone else BUT normal everyday representations of the population.
ANyways...

What you said!

Where can I watch BB USA?

The problem with BB uk is that people don't like gameplans, backstabbing etc, but in BB USA thats what it's all about. People realise it's a show and they just enjoy it.

Its for these reasons the show is dying on its arse,,,it really cant continue with these wannabees,,,,the producers should find another way of getting hm's cus the current selection process from about bb6 onwards is exactly like the op has said. As a fan of bb i have to say this is probably the last year i will watch if the program (which i'm sure other fans over the years have done which is why the viewing figures are down)
TAKE NOTE OF THREADS LIKE THESE BB PRODUCERS IF YOU WANT TO SAVE THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!
