SUSAN Boyle threw X Factor chiefs into panic by turning up to perform with flaming RED hair.

The Britain's Got Talent sensation - dubbed the Hairy Angel - flew into London from New York sporting a home dye which had gone badly wrong.

Backroom staff had to scramble top hairdressers to perform a last-minute colour correction.

SuBo finally recorded her song for last night's show with a much darker mop than usual.

A source told TV Biz: "It was chaos.

"She was due on stage at 4pm on Saturday but at 1pm she arrived with bright red hair and a great big grin.

"The grey bits had completely soaked up the colour and were especially vibrant. There was no way she could have gone on stage like that.
