100 - PPK - RESURECTION

SOUNDS LIKE : Snorting Coke off a nightclub toilet.

WHY IS IT HERE? : Russian mindless headbanging trance at it's finest, I have many fond memories of banging around in Grand Theft Auto III popping white fools in the ass to this on the custom soundtrack.




99 - FEEDER - BUCK ROGERS

WHY IS IT HERE? : Who went through early teenhood without encountering and subsequently falling in love with dim Welsh poprock merchants Feeder? Nobody, that's who. Sing along now ...



98 - GIRLS ALOUD - THE LOVING KIND

SOUNDS LIKE : Nicola Roberts being ginger.

WHY IS IT HERE? : This was about the time Girl's Aloud started to grow up. While their stupidly awesome Xenomania production team were always masters at creating catchy pop hooks, this showed they could do it with a more relaxed, almost spacey adult vibe too.




97 - NINE INCH NAILS - STARFUCKERS

SOUNDS LIKE : Bypassing the swear filter.

WHY IS IT HERE? : Studio mastermind Reznor in one of his more commercial outings with a satisfying, raw fist pumper. Look out for the copies of Marilyn Manson's Mechanical Animals being tossed about in the video.




96 - PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED - THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG

WHY IS IT HERE? : Tongue in cheek post punk classic that did much to detatch Rotten from the Pistols. Great ... dancable ... track.



95 - PINK FLOYD - ARNOLD LAYNE

SOUNDS LIKE : Syd Barret being a nutter.

WHY IS IT HERE? : Some early Floyd wrestling it's way into the cheap seats of the top 100 with a psychedelic, surreal classic typical of acid casualty Barett's writting tenure.



94 - LACUNA COIL - ENJOY THE SILENCE

SOUNDS LIKE : Sorry, I wasn't listening. I was gazing at the lead singer.

WHY IS IT HERE? : I'm not much for covers but this is a great, wholly unique sounding European goth rock twist on the Depeche Mode classic. And she is worthy of bearing my children. Very worthy. You may not enjoy the silence, but you can at least enjoy the video.



93 - FAD GADGET - RICKY'S HAND

SOUNDS LIKE : Allowing your weird uncle to make music in his shed.

WHY IS IT HERE? : Depeche Mode were discovered supporting this genuinly gifted electronic nutter at the Bridgehouse Inn in 1970. Frank Tovey AKA Fad Gadget was one of the experimental pioneers on Daniel Miller's Mute label in the early eighties when weird people started realising they could make weird music all by themselevs on synthesizers. Sadly Frank died shortly after a triumphant return to music supporting the Mode on the 2001 Exciter tour - where he still used Black & Decker frills on stage.

WHY IS IT HERE? : Because if it doesn't excite the sh!t out of you after a couple of cans of lager, your probably not alive inside. Great, pounding trance beat. Cheese never tasted so good, so eat it up.




90 - YUZO KOSHIRO - STREETS OF RAGE THEME

SOUNDS LIKE : Kicking Mr. X in the balls and saving the day.

WHY IS IT HERE? : First video game track of the evening is from master Sega music producer Yuzo Koshiro who married video game bleeps and blops with early 90's house rhythms to great effect on games such as this and Revenge Of Shinobi.

WHY IS IT HERE? : Because Aslan could have been so much bigger if it were not for lead singer Christy Dignhams keen Opium habits. Namely Heroin. They are still pretty big in Ireland and here is a late 80's heartfelt favourite.

WHY IS IT HERE? : English electronic outfit The Prodigy combine Punk energy and imagery with stomping, industrial yet club friendly Hard House epics. Consisting of technical whiz Liam Howlett, screamster Maxim and mother's favourite Keith Flint - this early classic is about as 90's as it gets.




80 - KMFDM - A DRUG AGAINST WAR

SOUNDS LIKE :: Germans with a point.

WHY IS IT HERE? : KMFDM are stalwarts of the German industrial scene and this one is great. What else is there to say? Great band, great track. Rock out with yo' cock out.
