Thats not the problem is it really. The articles are talking about people from Eastern European countries who have came to Britain and their own police forces are asking for their extradition to pay their parking or speeding fines or answer to more serious criminal charges commited back there.

Simply because their police is inept, they find the person has skipped to another European country so ask for their extradition, our police force and immigration department picks up the tab for locating the offender, arresting and processing them and then the cost of the flight. While it is a mutual agreement, I cant see many UK citizens who have committed parking offenses skipping to Poland to avoid paying the fines. Saying that I can't see Poland being top of the list for other criminals like the Brinks Mat team either.

A senior police source said: 'We've had requests to arrest people who are wanted for motoring offences and it's cost a fortune on interpreters, transport and man hours processing them for the flight for them to only return a few days later.

'It's insane that we're wasting our time and resources processing these people for such trivial crimes. The Poles want all their offenders tracked down no matter what.'

British officials went to Poland to plead for a let-up in the extradition of those wanted for minor offences, but to no avail. Polish government officials say they are constitutionally bound to find every offender.

Even if the Conservative Party get elected in May, they cant just break treaties they dont like when they feel like, it will take months probably years to opt out of any European Legislation and no doubt there will be some financial penalties for the UK to pay.
