Default Whilst loads of you English people will be out getting p*ssed for St Patricks Day ...

How many can say they'll be doing the same for St Georges Day?

I think its daft that in England, St Georges Day is swept under the rug whilst people love St Patricks Day.

Like Ben I don't do anything for either anyway but it annoys me how a load of English people prefer to celebrate St Patricks Day.

Well I'd say it has something to do with their own heritage too. There's a fair few who would be able to trace some of their lineage back to Ireland.

Dont constantly try and oppress you neighbours and make your own country and then you might celebrate St Georges day.

Same we should celebrate our own.

And patricks to a lesser extent.

But because st patricks day is a giant piss up day nowadays (and thats all for most people) english celebrate it because they are all drunks.

Being a half Irish half English man living in Scotland I get to celebrate a lot, St Patricks, St Georges(that pisses off the locals) St Andrews, Burns, you name it I will drink its health.

I don't drink anymore so its pointless anyway for me

I have done in the past but noone seems to care about St Georges Day as they do Paddys day. A lot of pubs don't even do anything for Georges Day yet they all will be doing something tonight.

Paddy's day is as much about a good party as it is any one countries traditions nowdays. St. Georges day has not developed the same reputation hence why it sucks. Remove any patriotic meaning and it's just a wild piss up of a day versus a day not a lot of people care about.

Half of the St. Patrick story is mythology anyway. And as a day that celebrates him introducing a faith that would dominate our government with backwards thinking up until a few years ago, I personally believe it's nothing to celebrate about, more a general feel good day.

I don't get why other nations celebrate our day,we don't celebrate any of their days, lol! But yeah for us,it's just a 'let's have a good day' day, wear loads of green and get drunk, feck the reasoning behind it all.
