Default Big Brother 'still selecting final housemate line up' [No task/public vote on launch]

Big Brother will still be the ones in charge of who goes in on launch night, according to reports. Despite previous speculation, there won’t be any tasks or public votes on June 9 to select the final housemate line up, rather show bosses will have already selected those that enter.

Sources say that producers are still finalising exactly which of the hopeful housemates will enter in just under two weeks time. The wannabes will find out if they’ve been picked live on launch night.

Those that are chosen will then enter the house as per usual – with their VT played to viewers at home as they walk through the baying crowd and say goodbye to the outside world.

What this means is that the “twist” isn’t really much of a twist at all, this is the same process that has always happened, just behind closed doors. Last year it was reported that the 16 housemates were only told they’d actually be entering on the morning of the launch, with the other hopefuls told to collect their bags.

However show bosses are hoping that making the process live and increasing the tension on launch night will attract the extra viewers the show desperately needs.

Big Brother 11 returns to our screens on June 9 at 9PM on Channel 4.

----------

So they're basically making what they've always done live, bit of a let down and all rather pointless

This is good new surely?

It means that it wont just be down to a task or chance as to who we will be watching in there.

Its not a massive twist no, but its a nice little extra something for launch night thats not going to harm anything.

Seems a silly gimmick and will just invite viewers to moan "why didn't they select so-and-so instead" if any of the selected ones turn out to be dull (which on past form they will).

That's what I was thinking :/

Relieved they're not doing the 100 person stunt though phew.

You never know though they might let them think some are going home and then just put them all in.

I think this sounds quite cool actually. It's a massive relief knowing they're not doing the 100 person thing as watching the VTs is what launch night is about. I'm pretty sure the public won't get to see the housemates who get rejected though will they? I think what they're trying to do is make them get more emotional when they get into the house.

If it is 20 cut to 16 then only 4 will be disappointed (pretty lousy if you're in that 4). But hey...all 16 will see each other standing about. Plenty of "Oi, aren't you 123 from audition in x,y,z? Still for a straight guy he can always say "These lasses are mingers, no way I am I sleeping with one for Ł100,000, oi red tops gimme Ł10,000 for an expose"!

There is no way they'd leave the choice of hms open to chance would be tempting fate and leave themselves open to complete disaster

Hmmmm reckon they changed since we were disappointed with the twist on the forum. They have been using our ideas recently e.g billboards

Good and Bad.

Good because at least now they will have control under the series.

Bad because its a ****ing horrible and boring final launch night twist, no one I mean NO ONE CARES about the rejects!

Why would we want them on our TV?

Honestly, I hope for BBs Sake theres a bigger twist lieing inside the house.
