It's never going to happen. It's too ingrained in society. And prohibition never works. Would it be better off? Probably. But take the question like that and we are also better off without a lot of other fun things people like to do. There. Now we all live longer with a whole lot less to live for.

I don't drink any more. Mainly because I used to do some stupid things and I was a complete ass. I also was fat when I was drinking. Plus, it's far more healthy to not drink. And I don't miss it.

I didn't have a problem with drink. I was just drinking a bit much and it was costing me a fortune. Then I worked out how I can be happy all the time being sober 24/7.

Try it. You really can get a big buzz out of being sober and healthy, no hangovers.

the idiots you refer to are either people who change after 1 drink and then cannot help the compulsion to keep drinking

or

ill educated people who if they were from a more affluent, better educated home would not drink as they do.
