Celebrity Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton today urged men to stop eating meat by unveiling an ad that links meat-eating to impotence.

The model revealed the new People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) poster, in which she stars, at an event at Smithfield Meat Market, London.

The ad, launched during National BBQ Week (May 31 to June 6), shows Chantelle expressing her obvious disappointment as she holds up a limp hot dog next to the caption "Eating meat got you down? Fight impotence. Go vegetarian!"

The celebrity posed next to the attention-grabbing pro-vegetarian ad while Peta supporters handed out veggie hot dogs to passers-by.

Chantelle, who has not eaten meat or dairy for a while, said: "I hope my Peta ad turns clogged-up carnivores on to the wonders of 'veggie Viagra'.

"Vegetarian cooking is an easy way to make the world a better place for animals and lovers!"

A Peta spokesperson said: "Besides causing animal suffering and damaging the environment, eating meat causes erectile dysfunction.

"If British men want to do more than just snore in the bedroom, they'd better lay off the bacon and bangers and start eating their veggies.

"The cholesterol and animal fat in meat, eggs and dairy products contributes to hardening of the arteries, which slows the flow of blood to all the body's vital organs.

"And a recent German study of 1,519 men found that erectile dysfunction is a strong predictor of heart attacks and premature death.

"Eating meat, eggs and dairy products has also been conclusively linked to strokes, diabetes, obesity and cancer."

Peta is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. It aims to educate policymakers and the public about cruelty to animals and promote an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect.
