I think Big Brother want her out - she is a poisonous influence on Scabby.

Dave had the Welsh kit (it just happens to also be red) So she didn't have an exception made for her, all the non-English housemates had the choice to wear the English kit or that of their own country Last edited by tmx; 28-06-2010 at 11:27 AM. |

She wore an Irish shirt because she's Irish.
She didn't sing the National Anthem because she's Irish. She had the option to wear the English shirt but she didn't because she's Irish. I dont see what the debate is about???

You're right, God Save The Queen is associated with bigotry and violence in Ireland. In England, 'Fields of Athenry' is considered to be a rebel song. Yet Caoimhe sat in the garden - in England - and sang it despite the fact Steve was in the house, missing his legs because of an IRA bomb. So for Gawd sake let's not upset Caoimhe by asking her to wear an England shirt... but let her sing her rebel song and no one is to be offended.

The Fields of Athenry is not a rebel song, its an Irish folk ballad!

What point are you trying to make? That people who have love for their homeland country and its accurate history are just trying to be awkward, thats ridiculous..... you are coming off as a very unintelligent person.

AngelChair, I like you. We should probably stop debating this. For clarity I'll just say this then drop off this thread: That song, or a version of it, has connotations with British people who suffered thought the Troubles. I have no problem at all with Irish people and if they want to sing that song at home all day long then that's just fine with me. I just thought it was a little naive and unthinking of her to sing it there, with Steve being around.

It's the whole you, me, them, us thing. The UK is so divided it takes a bloody war to join us all up.

Sectarianism in Scottish football terms is also a misnomer for Unionism. It was a fooball task (4-1 bye the way when Germany decided not to rub it in more by putting their 2nd team on in a triple substitution) Hence Rangers fans fly the Union Jack and sing God Save the Queen.

Is that even a clever put down???? We sing "We're sh1te and we know we are" at matches. Engerlish media told me Engerland were gonna win the World Cup. not once, not twice - 3 billion times.

In any case. It's the British big brother. Not the English big brother. The whole task was rubbish. I dought they would have done the same if Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland where playing. Last edited by brian3; 28-06-2010 at 01:25 PM. |
