Default Big brother - how it defined my life for 10 years

BB has been with us for ten years. It has somewhat defined our lives for the last decade. I can honestly say that BB acts almost like markers for my life.

How does Big Brother mark your life.

Heres mine. Its long but fun

PLEASE feel free to discuss how BB marked your life over the years

BB1
I was 14 and that summer i had my first boi crush when i did a summer school at a local theatre. I remember first discussing nasty nick walking up the hill towards the theatre

BB2
I did my gsce's and left school, BB2 reminds me of watching live feed all day and a small trip to wales i made with the family. I remember buying the final heat magazine with the four finalists in it.

BB3
I attended TWO summer taster courses for university this summer. I remember sitting in one of the campus kitchens watching an epsiode on a REALLY fuzzy screen. Also this was the first year we got the internet at home...

BB4
The first summer that the eye design was significant to me.
I was in the midst of writing a feature film with a local film company. also in the middle of my A levels. I used to skive off and go to the library and look up big brother stuff. Me and my best mate went for a walk one summers day and ended up in liverpool airport were we met SISSY. haha

BB5
This was the summer my feature film got made. I remember finding a newspaper with house pictures at one of the locations. I also remember a night shoot were me and a friend talked about BB until 5am.
The night Nadia won was so emotional for me, i was at a friends house getting sloshed, i remember lying in the back of my dads car on the way home staring at the stars and crying cos BB was over. Hahaha i was so drunk.

BB6
I had finished my A levels and was jobless and worried about the future. I started working on a theatre project with a local Arts company that saw me through the summer. I spent my evenings going the gym and then back to my oldest dearest friends first apartment and watching BB there.
I remember the night of maxwells eviciton because i spent hours in the office reading the forums and hoping he would go.
This was the year i also met my first BF.

BB7
Having filmed a pilot for channel4 in NOV this was the summer of the big adventure.
I was in Washington DC filming the night the BB7 logo was revealed. i got up extra early and used the hotel computer to see it.
I was sxo shocked to see the twisted eye design was so similar to one of my fan made designs
I remember being in london and seeing the eye on a billboard and being excited, then watching the launch the night i got back from london at my friend Darrens.
I was also in the middle of my first major breakup and heartache. I watched the final at darrens house getting trollyed. I switched off after Aisleyne only came third.

BB8
The year of working. Nothing much happened. I watched the launch in my bedroom with my mate james then the final at his house. we both wanted Samanda to win. I met my second BF at the end of this year

BB9
Simply the BEST BB viewing experience of my life.
It was the worst year for me socially but the best BB wise. I spent the summer at my best friend CJS house getting drunk till 7am, kissing loads of people. Me and CJ went to a wedding but were so bored we sneaked home to watch BB. I went to Mardi Gras in manchester and wanted to be at CJS watching bb.

This was the year that I was involved the most. I invested so much love into it. Me and CJ were so nervous when Rachel went up against Stuart. When she survived it was amazing. I screamed.

The final at CJS was amazing we had drinking games and i was convinced Rachel would be out first.

Her victory is the single most awesome BB moment ever. I actually cried. sad i know but an amazing year.

and i met the love of my life

BB10
I was in Greece during the entire pre series build up without internet so i was dying to get back and see what the house was like etc.
I was made up to see my idea for a 'fingerprint/identity' eye design had been used
The series was fun and Sophies victory was another favourite in the bag.

We moved into our first apartment the week before the final so we enjoyed the finale with friends.

BB11

The bittersweet.

The first year that really didnt capture my imagination. Possibly because i knew it was the end.

The reveal of the eye didnt excite me. The house was gorgeus until they made all those changes.

But i was very happy that the final title sequence used one of my ideas. 'COGS'

I have really faint memories of the first two, it started when I was seven years old, ahha & I have watched every series.

But I remember the third one pretty clearly, we had tropical fish at home, we got clown loaches & named then after Kate and Johnny, sad I know!
I remember Big Brother 6 was when I was in year 7, back when it was dead popular and everyone watched it, I just remember my RE teacher discussing Makosi's "pregnancy" oohh and Fight Night of course, that got talked about a lot.

I was 7 years old when it first started and I remember watching evictions for the first two series' up my nans. I wasn't a fan at that age but my cousin was and she'd have it on every Friday when we'd all stay up there, I remember watching Craig winning BB1 and his interview with Davina.

My sister was really in to BB3 and constantly talked about it so I tuned in occasionally and knew most of the HMs names. I watched the behind the scenes DVD so many times, it was unreal.

I didn't even know BB4 was on.

BB5 is the year where I became an addict and I can safely say that I have not missed a single HL episode since the BB5 launch.

I loved BB6 and really connected with a lot of the HMs, I loved the whole Craig & Anthony situation and I really enjoyed listening to Kemal's stories about him growing up.

BB7 was my favorite year of all, I loved all the HMs and before BB7 aired I used to see my ability to speak Welsh fluently as quite an embarrassing thing but seeing Glyn & Imogen speak Welsh in the house made me proud to be able to speak Welsh. I loved all of the twists. I was in a relationship during the whole summer and BB7 always reminds me of that relationship.

Unlike many BB fans I actually did enjoy BB8, I was addicted, I finished school early to study for my GCSEs so I watched live feed constantly, I should have been revising I know but I did get 8 'C' grades or above so not too bad for a student who prioritized BB above revision.

I loved BB9, it was the first year my mother started watching BB so it was nice to all sit down together and enjoy BB. I liked BB10 too and my mother watched that too. I am enjoying BB11 so far but I do think it needs a bit of spicing up.

I've met Nikki Grahame, Glyn Wise, Chantelle Houghton and Stef McMicheal and they were all lovely. Sorry for the essay. :L

Hello

BB9 was a great series for many reasons, I will point out a few for you?

It had possibly the best launch night twist ever.

The females were the best looking that year and yes if you are a girl there was two men in there that the female viewers adored.

When one of those men was evicted he tried to crowd surf and it failed epicly, so funny.

BB9 has one of the most famous tasks with the electric shock task.

It had Fight Night II where a gay man was thrown out for spitting in a Muslim's face.

They split the house into Heaven and Hell.

They had 2 amazing food fights that were hilarious.

There was so much good tasks and twists that year.

The house was the best ever.

The series in general was just outstanding.

You should give it a watch after BB11
You can watch it by using the following instructions:

Go to Hypercloak.com > Type in Youtube > Search DirtyMonkey151 > Look for Big Brother 2008.

Any other questions just ask.
I'm always happy to bring new viewers to BB9.

I've been on and off with BB really. 1 and 2 I missed. Only saw the end of 3 but was hooked, enjoyed mainly the second half of 4 and all of 5. BB6 after a good opening lost my interest. BB7 had a bad opening but gripped me later. BB8 and BB9 I saw the start of but switched off. BB10 I was back to obsessive viewing. BB11 good start but lost interest.

Do you know which episode/day number was the introduction of the heaven/hell divide after that dinner where Mikey got hit in the food fight?

BB1
I was only 5 and didn't know a thing about BB. Don't remember anyone talking about it at all.

BB2
I was 6 and still wasn't aware of the existence of Big Brother.

BB3
This was the first series where I actually watched it. I didn't watch it regularly but my Dad did let me watch it on the odd occasion. I remember we went on holiday to Whales and we watched the final whilst we were there. My cousin (who was the same age) stayed up with me and we all sat round the TV and watched it. I also remember wanting Kate to win because she was an Arsenal supporter

BB4
This year I strangely remember hearing nothing of what was going on in Big Brother. During BB3 I remember seeing Jade's name in the papers a LOT. But during this series? Zilch.

BB5
Never watched it when it was on telly. I remember some kids talking about it in school and thinking it sounded funny. I also remember one kid saying another looked like Nadia. Now I know who Nadia is, I can't stop laughing at what he said. (**I attempted to watch this series this year, and managed to get to Day 9 before MrMarky was shut down. Its now my 2nd fave series. **)

BB6
This year I got interested in BB again and watched around half the season. I remember watching the launch and running out on the trampoline during the ad breaks lol. I loved Makosi for some strange reason. I remember watching her being locked in the gingerbread house and LMAO'ing when it turned out to be a cage

BB7
The first series I watched all the way through. My favourite series to date. The house was amazing. The tasks were amazing. The housemates were amazing. I remember not being able to watch the launch in full and being really pissed off that I didn't see the house tour. As the housemates went in I had to guess were everything was. LOL. I also remember being so excited for the HND twist. If I remember rightly, I actually fell off my chair when it was announced. I wanted Aislynne to win the end but my 2nd fave, Pete, won so I was happy

BB8
After the rollercoaster ride that was BB7, my anticipation for BB8 couldn't have been higher. Once I saw pictures of the house I couldn't wait. When it launched however, I remember thinking "this all women twist seems a bit crap" and I was then relieved when the put Ziggy in. I thought this series was ok but knew that it could NEVER match up to BB7. I fake week but the epic fail of the Halfway House balanced that out. I wanted Samanda to win that year.

BB9
After being slightly disappointed by BB8, I was very curious to see what BB had up his sleeve this year. The shattered glass theme and ads excited me extremely. Everytime I saw one on TV I would stop what I was doing just to watch it. The series I have to say was pretty good, it had its fair share of decent twists and housemates (Dale, Stuart ) and I did like it. But I never felt that it was on par with BB7 in the twists it had. I wanted Rachel to win purely because that pig Mikey was up against her.

BB10
BB10 was the first year I encountered TiBB. I used to go on here to read news and rumours about the upcoming series. I never joined until this year (I'll get to that in a minute). The launch really excited me on this one. But the rest of the series was very very poor (and that putting it nicely), I realised during this series that C4 didn't really care about BB. Also I hated nearly all of the housemates so I stopped watching 5 weeks in. Then I went on holiday to China and missed the rest, I didn't care really. And when I found C4 had axed BB, I wasn't surprised.

BB10
This year I was hoping C4 was gonna actually show that it cares for Big Brother by putting some thought into it (it was the last series after all) and from what I saw during CBB7, I had hope (although Steph Beecham should've won ). And so far, I'm semi-satisfied. I think that so far the tasks have been good, the house is AMAZING, but the only thing thats lacking I think is the hm's really. I think the producers should bring back that evil streak from BB5 to really turn this ok series in a great one. We need more friction in the house at the mo, and I have to say, the tasks from BB5 were genius and they need Shirley Jones back to bring back that evil streak imo. I also joined TiBB this year and so far, am loving every minute of it!
