This is the dramatic moment that a fire starts at the Queen Vic in an EastEnders episode that will change Albert Square forever.

As revealed yesterday, crack addict Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) sets the iconic pub alight during a furious row with mum Peggy (Barbara Windsor) over his recent drug use.



Peggy has been making a desperate attempt to get Phil clean again by locking him upstairs in The Vic and ignoring his pleas to be let out. However, when Phil makes an escape and Peggy tries to stop him from stealing more money from the business, the pair have a huge showdown.

As their argument reaches its climax, Phil threatens to burn down the pub. Though Peggy thinks her son is only bluffing, he throws down a lit match and she's horrified as they're surrounded by flames.



The fire soon spreads and spirals out of control, prompting everyone inside to try to escape.

Will Peggy and Phil make it out alive? And what about the rest of Albert Square's residents?

These scenes air on Thursday, September 9 at 7.30pm on BBC One.

Phil looks kinda young in that first picture.
I hope the roof collapses in and lands on someone I hate, I know that won't happen but still LOL

I hope Jodie isn't in the bar at the time though, or ZsaZsa.

If no one dies in this fire I will stop watching.. for like 2 weeks lol
I swear though I have a feeling like no one will die and they all make out alive, and 2 people end up in hospital and both live whilst Peggy leaves in a taxi.

Yeah I thought Phil looked younger in those pictures too. He looks like he hasn't slept in days though.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's made to look as if Peggy dies in the fire but in the next scene you see Peggy strolling around with a smile on her face in Barbados.

If she does die though I can see her being stubborn to leave the Vic. Like the Captain on the Titanic wanted to go down with his ship, Peggy wants to go down with the Vic. I hope I'm not right.

Yes, that would be good and sad actually.
If she does die, I'd rather her do that.
Like just give up and sit in the upstairs room alone waiting to die rather than trying to fight her way out and then die.

So it would be more 'peaceful' you could have her 'Best Bits' playing and then flashing back to Peggy in the burning vic, and back and forward from the best bits to that.

And then it could possibly end with her just falling to the ground or going to sleep.. And then of course the 'Peggy EE Titles' could come on.
