About a decade ago, the MTV viewing audience was introduced to a guy from Ohio named Mike Mizanin, who was one of the cast members on the 10th season of "The Real World" (which brought the housemates back to New York for the first time since the show's debut season). He was most certainly the show's breakout star, and during his regular arguments with Coral, Nicole and Malik, a character that Mizanin called "The Miz" emerged as a sort of alter-ego that allowed him some freedom of expression. What viewers didn't know at the time was that Mizanin had been cultivating that personality because he had aspirations in the world of professional wrestling, and he scored his greatest achievement in that business on Monday night's (November 22) episode of the WWE's flagship show "Raw" where he won the WWE Championship from Randy Orton.
Following his stint on "The Real World," Mizanin became a staple on the "Real World/Road Rules Challenge," managing to win both "Battle of the Seasons" and "The Inferno 2." He continued to compete on reality shows until he landed a spot on the fourth season of "Tough Enough," the WWE's reality show that sought to give an unknown a contract with the company. Though Mizanin came in second place (he lost to MMA fighter Daniel Puder, who only lasted a brief time with the company), his in-ring ability and skills with a microphone earned him a developmental deal with WWE. After spending some time in their training program, he made his television debut on "Smackdown!" in 2006. From there, the Miz developed into one of the best villains in WWE, and he has gradually climbed up the ladder. He scored his biggest early success as the tag-team partner of John Morrison (they had a long reign as champions) and later earned the United States Championship as a singles star. A few months ago, Miz won the Money in the Bank briefcase in a ladder match, which allowed him to cash in a title shot at any time. That's exactly what he did on Monday night. Champion Randy Orton had a main event match with Wade Barrett, and following Orton's victory, Miz crashed the ring and beat up on Orton's already-injured knee. Though Orton fought back, Miz managed to deliver his patented move (called the "Skull-Crushing Finale") and win the title. He's the first member of the MTV family to win said championship, and we salute him. AWESOME

He has come so far and he is so competent at his job as a professional wrestler that his Reality TV past is in another universe as far as I'm concerned. It will cheapen it for non wrestling fans if they read headlines like this.
Of course if you listen to a certain member who is no longer with us he probably learned all there is to learn about 'rasslin from The Real World. |

Can we ban him from posting X-Factor .gifs? It's riddiculous. Pretty much every post he makes at this stage has one.

The Real World: Back to New York was a good season, although Coral was the star of the show, The Miz and Cobra Starship front man, Gabe Saporta have done quite well for themselves.
If anyone wants me to upload the season to some site I will. Last edited by ILoveTRW; 23-11-2010 at 06:53 PM. |

I didnt post this an honour to the real world, I posted it to show that inspite of him coming from such a show he actually shook off the horrible press around it and has single handedly carve out a triumphant egotistical AWESOME heel in the process.

There is no "horrible press" around the real world, many ex housemates have gone on to do great things whether it be becoming doctors, politicians or lawyers.

What's that got to do with it's press? It's still generally regarded as a trash TV show. I doubt most of it's fans would disagree or take much offence to that.

He used The Real World to get where he is now, literally every episode he would refer to himself as The Miz.

He was a massive wrestling fan. He probably did want to get into wrestling. But he done it through Tough Enough and working his ass off through the ranks. He didn't think 'Hmm how will I be a wrestler? I know, I will go on The Real World and strut right into the upper eschelons of the WWE!' you cabbage. |

Thanks for pointing that out, Captain Obvious. Television exposure is a huge deal. It didn't mean however in any litteral terms that the rough and tumble world of TRW vetted him for a spot of 'rasslin.
Our boy wonder is where he belongs now anyway. Last edited by Stu; 23-11-2010 at 07:09 PM. |

I know. I remember that replica belt. I seen a few clips of him on it.
Look in the crowd at a wrestling event and you will also be greeted by a couple of hundred fat, sweaty nerds who also run up and down the aisles with replica belts screaming their nut off. Last edited by Stu; 23-11-2010 at 07:10 PM. |
