Oops, forgot to say, I love meat myself and I wouldn't be able to live without it.

I am a vegetarian - not for moral reasons though I just dont like meat, the smell the texture everything about it repulses me. I didn't use to be able to cook meat for this reason but now I can and do because I live with 3 meat eaters. I do have to wear those surgical gloves to handle it though - I couldn't bear to have it touch my skin

I eat fish but not poultry - I guess I'm a non meat eater as opposed to being a vegetarian its more that I have a 'thing' about meat but strangely I can cook it now but its taken a while to be able to do that

I eat meat when people give me it, but I won't buy it.. In my weird moral way of thinking about things that way I get the best of both worlds! I don't contribute to the profit making but get to enjoy eating it? after all once its dead its dead, and once it's bought it's bought

No. It was idealistic growing up but I simply don't care enough anymore. Why do vegetarians eat plants and vegetables? Are they not living organisms connected to the eco system too?

Is it because they don't look cute?

And if you are going to base it on cognitive awareness isin't that ... wrong? How much more emotionally vulnerable is a fish when compared to a plant?

No, I was for a few years when I was younger, from about 15 to 18, because I loved animals (eventhough I still wore leather so it didn't really make sense!) then after a night out and a few drinks I gave in and got a chicken burger in BurgerKing, never looked back since!

I saw a documentary on how they farmed pigs.. it was awful, the poor things were living stacked up in pens barely big enough to move, then when it was time to slaughter them, half the time the electric shock didn't work and they all knew what was coming. Horrific, poor little piggies.

What wonderfully bizarre logic you have got.

Everything in the animal kingdom feels pain. We can intellectualize that and bring it to an emotional level unlike pigs which is what seperates us. I take it you are also against killing spiders and catching mice etc?

Yes. I really don't see why people need to eat meat when there's so much other food available to us nowadays. People have a stereotypical view of vegetarians that we just eat vegetables, that's not the case. There's loads of vegetarian food you can eat which is just as healthy and, in my opinion, is much nicer than eating a dead animal.

well I suppose it is bizarre logic but if you don't contribute financially to the slaughter, sooner or later it'll stop as long as everyone else does the same of course?

I avoid spiders, but if necessary I can manage getting a cup and a piece of paper and then chucking them out of the window or something like that. I've not had a problem with mice before.. not sure how I'd handle that one if it were to arise. I'm sure there is a humane way though.

There's no need to inflict pain if its not necessary IMO.

Everyones not going to stop though. Especially if people are more than happy to accept free hand outs for christ sake. It would be almost better if you did pay for it and at least support the farmer who hurt and killed the pig you didn't mind deriving pleasure from as long as it's free.

To be blunt it's downright nonsensical logic. The farmer inflicts pain because people like the taste of meat. Ring a bell? See where I am going with this? You are supporting something you claim to hate one way or another. A dead pig doesn't give a crap how much you payed for a piece of it's carcass.

well, everyone can do what ever they want.. It's a personal choice isn't it? It makes me feel a bit better than buying it, maybe its not perfect and nonsensical or irrational or whatever, but frankly I couldn't care less!!

It's exactly the same as buying it yourself if someone else buys it for you BUT if like ChristmasCake said someone has give it you in which I assume they don't intend to replace it then how is that the same? Like ChristmasCake said its supply&demand, if you stop buying from them they will stop selling & if that piece of meat was going to go in the bin & you take it instead thats not giving any profit whatsoever to the process.?

I'm a vegetarian btw

Christmas Cake is made from an animal?

Didn't know that.

Nothing worse that eating a steak and chomping on a bit of fat that is really tough.

I like Chicken.

Anyone eat black pudding?

They hang the pig up on a metal prod then cut its belly open, you see the blood gush out and that is what you're eating.

Yeah, have been for 7 years now. Moral reasons and all that. I really don't like when people argue with me about it though,if they want to understand it,fine. But I get so pissed off when people rant at me for being one,it's my choice,it doesn't affect them,I don't rant at them to be vegetarians.

Chicken or cow are four meals out of the week, the others are usually one veg and two fish. I would like to be more vegetarian, I'm working on it.

I tried bein vegetarian once.. Not because of morals or a dislke of meat, just because I was at that age where I was going through different fads and generally being a bit mental. I lasted approx 2 days as I had forgotten that I actually hate vegetables! I nearly starved to death!

Nah, I love meat too much to ever consider going veggie, although, I do limit my family's red meat intake
