Default Being gay was a 'painful trial' which comes as a result of past trauma

This is view held by many from the islamic faith and this 44 year old preacher at the new NYC mosque has put his theory out. How do you find it?

According to the New York Post Adhami, 44, said being gay was a 'painful trial' which comes as a result of past trauma.
He said: 'An enormously overwhelming percentage of people struggle with homosexual feeling because of some form of violent emotional or sexual abuse at some point in their life. A small, tiny percentage of people are born with a natural inclination that they cannot explain. You find this in the animal kingdom at some level as well.'

Obviously most of gay people are born gay.

But take Corin, as an example, IMO she only "turned" bisexual because loosing the man she loved, whom she was married with, was so horrible and painful, that she felt she couldnt date another man, because she still had some sort of feelings for him.

If thats not a trauma, then I dont know what trauma is...

LOL who the heck appointed him world expert on homosexuality?

Truth is nobody has conclusive explanation for sexual persuasions. It's an extremely complex subject. Im sure there are all kinds of reasons and factors thrown into the mix. But does it really matter?

All you need to know is that it is a fact of life so deal with it. Sexuality has always come in all flavours and will continue to do so until the end of time.

Being gay is genetic. It has nothing to do with your environmental influences. Its all decided in your DNA not by you after you're born.

This guys is spouting bullsh!t.

Nope, never suffered any of that. Do please keep trying to pinpoint the explanation as to why I am what I am, though, LT, because it makes me feel really good about myself.

I resent Human Rights Campaign's sophomoric attempt to label Adhami's views as 'hateful'. As is typical of HRC, they are eager to sensationalise a story and betray their narrow definition of tolerance in the way they go about creating divisions and enmity between minorities. Their euphemistic name belies their status as a single-issue advocacy group (itself a euphemism for 'lobbying organisation'). Ironically, it wouldn't be a stretch to say HRC's own views on the subject of gay rights are no less reactionary than those of Adhami. They publically disowned their campaign for same-sex marriage back in 2009 following constitutional amendments in 11 US states to outlaw it. I can only imagine what a disgusting insult this must have been to their donors and supporters. Maybe they should practice what they preach before judging muslims.

Dated and ill-informed his statement might be, but remember he doesn't necessarily proclaim homosexuality as a sin and even admitted homosexuality can be a natural occurance. This is a highly progressive view in the context of not just Islam, but the Abrahamic religions in general. Why berate him for saying something that would barely have raised an eyebrow coming from somebody like the Archbishop of Canterbury or Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Paedo?

at the fairy dust bit.

I just think that you may go through a phase of confusion over your sexuality but ultimately one trait will be more dominant than the other. Thats the best I can explain it.

This view is also held by Christians, who spout it on a daily basis, and are determined to keep gays and lesbians from gaining any equal rights.

Anyway, yes, I'm gay because I was traumatized. Thanks for letting me in on that.

So one has to be "fascinated" by a subject in order to debate it? How about just curious about or interested in other people's views?
