Sansa is great, my favourite living character now.

And Dany's chapters were at their worst during the second book, I was really tempted to skip them, it was a really terrible plot in the show as well even though they changed it so much. But her as a character is at her worst in ADWD.

that's more Martin's fault than the characters. Though the character is a Mary Sue some of the time overall she is okay. Martin basically admits though that he messed up her storyline and made it happen too fast so that the ones in later books were just boring filler waiting for the rest of the character's storylines to catch up
