Thumbs up I Still Can't Believe It's Back!

I was just sitting there looking at the Forum Home and seen Dan's BB3 Thread:

Quote:
'Discuss Series 3 in the run up to Series 12'
The Run Up to Series 12... Just reading that is so exciting and amazing.
I honestly can't believe there's going to be a Big Brother 12.

Like we know it's happening now, before it was all 'When' or 'IF Channel 5 pick it up.'

It's so weird seeing them mentioning BB on their website and stuff, and how we literally have 15 Weeks left until it's back.
It's still a MASSIVE shame it's returning on Celebrity Big Bore, but it's 4 weeks after that and we'll have our Big Brother.

I don't know if it's just me still finding it hard to get my head around, If the news had came around August or September last year It wouldn't of been a surprise - but the way we had to wait a good 7/8 months for it to be confirmed makes it more hard to take in.

Actually, it's more than 18 weeks away* , and agreed, I never thought we'd see it back, when BB was first cancelled, late BB10, all major broadcasters, including Five, ruled themselves out. Sky, ITV, Living and the network that owned it, Virgin, no one was interested, then CBB7 came along and got people like Peter Jones and Wossy talking about it again and Five expressed interest in the celebrity version, then Five was set to be sold to new owners and it looked like it was again without any potential home, then Endemol announce their interest in buying Five (in partnership with BB's new owner, Desmond), and it looks like BB could be safe again, then Endemol drop out and Desmond hones in on the channel without them and it looks off again, then he expresses interest and it's most definitely on, BBLB are dropping hints left, right and centre and Desmond continues to talk of having the show on his shopping list, then, talks breakdown and for months the show is again, unlikely to return, then they resume and a deal looks days away, then they breakdown again and by now I've lost hope, every new rumour or hint I dismiss immediately, and then talks resume yet again and within days The Star are constantly talking about BB again and it looks on again, then they stop and it looks off, then The Guardian get word of confirmation and here we are, it's back, old fan sites (big blagger) and fans (most of DSBB's userbase) return after years in the wilderness, mostly positive for the first time since BB7.

(* Starts mid-August, 15 weeks from now is late July)

I'd be more than happy with 2 more hoo-has (and celeb BBs) after experiencing it's axing, but it does need a few more than that if it's ever to be revived again.

I loved the twitter comments from the show's detractors moaning how they thought they were finally rid of it, bamboozled at how hard it is to kill off .

Also it's even stranger to think there's also going to be (for definite) a CBB9 and a BB13, the suggestion that not only would there be a new series less than a year to the day after UBB ended, but 4 (including CBB) would be in the pipeline and confirmed just 4 months later, last December, would have made me laugh .

I'm still in the 'meh I don't particularly care' frame of mind. I might get a little excited for it a few minutes before it airs but until it does I'm quite apathetic towards it all.

I'm looking forward to it. Can't say I'd go as far as 'excited' right now. Probably as I don't know enough about it just yet though. Great news that it's coming back though even if my cynical side keeps screaming that this was planned all along

I am delighted. I knew that it would come back as there is too much of us that like the show for it to end. It is license to evolve and become an institution like Eastenders and Coronation Street.

I hope it is a great success on Channel 5 and I a sure it is back for at least another 5 years, if its successful and it will be, especially with more viewer participation then no way will Channel 5 let it go for some time.

I'd be hugely shocked tbh if they didn't renew it after BB13, Because Big Brother safely manages a good 3 Million per night, well it usually drops midway through the series but I'm sure that'll still be outstanding for Channel 5 if they compare it to their other shows?

I have to agree.
It's so amazing going onto Big Brother YouTube videos where the haters came onto it last year and said 'Thank God this is axed!'

And stuff like that.

Now I can reply and just say;
'You were saying? '

It's great that as you said, we get the last laugh afterall.

All we need it 2 million a night for a solid pleasing for C5 bosses - Personally, I think we will get way more than that as I think C5 are going to do a absoloutly brilliant job of it

I'm glad it's back. It will take some used to getting used to it being on channel 5 instead of 4 but I can't wait

Doesn't matter how good they make it, the show won't manage 3 Million.

People will be going on how it was in C4, they won't care just because it's on C4 - even if C5 do advertise alot.

Look at BB9, Best series of all time and in 2008 it was the lowest rating Big Brother ever, complete disgrace.

So it won't really matter how good it is on C5, people will judge it how the last series was, just like they did in 2008.

BB8 was bollocks, so people didn't give BB9 a look and missed out.
BB11 was a mess, so people will assume BB12 will be even worse especially because C5 have a bad rep.

I don't think BB9 was the lowest rated series was it?

And there are alot of people who were fans from the early days who are starting to watch again when it comes back on C5 to give it a chance, I know a few people who are, and a few members on here have said they know alot of people who are aswell

Hopefully lessons have been learnt from BB11. Otherwise, BB12 could quite easily be even worse.

Doesn't matter though, did you know you don't get counted as a viewer?
Neither do I.

They base TV ratings on one kind of box, if you don't have that box [Say you have Virgin Media or Sky] then they don't count you.

Like we all know Sky is the UK's biggest TV Network, and none of us get counted which is really unfair because BB could of had FAR more ratings had every single viewer been counted.

So in other words [I hope this doesn't sound mean] unless those people who have said they're going to give it a chance, and I know what you're talking about because a few friends said the same to me aswell, unless they have Barb Boxes, then they won't make a difference to the BB12 Ratings

No BB9 isn't the lowest rated series, BB10 is.
But at the time [in 2008], Big Brother 9 was the lowest rated series which is a disgrace because BB8 and BB4 were horrible but they got a steady audience.
