Do you think it really make that big a difference?
I recently got a Sky+ HD box and came home today like "omg is that on the HD channel? It looks amazing!" and mum went "no it's not HD". And when I flicked through the HD channels they were no different to all the non-HD channels, in my opinion. And this was on a Flatscreen HD TV. Maybe my eyes are bad but we're paying £10 extra for a few more colours possibly. ![]() Last edited by Doogle; 16-06-2011 at 09:07 PM. |

I had the same problem as you Doogle at first, but last year we started watching all programmes in HD [well, the ones that we could, and the ones that'll look good in HD...like X Factor, IAC etc] and I remember a time where I walked in and someone was watching a show that we usually watched in HD in SD, and I was like 'what's wrong with the picture?', and then I realised that it wasn't on the HD channel. So I guess the more you get used to watching things in HD, the more noticeable the difference between it as SD will become. |

Thanks, but she's bad enough to look at in SD.

Oh btw I've seen Dark Knight in HD on BluRay and that did look good, but then I saw it on DVD and I did see a difference. I think I'll probably change my mind the longer I have this Sky Box.
Can't watch HD videos cos of my internet as well. ![]() |

Fair enough, I'll give it a chance.
I'll probably be used to HD for BB and X Factor time anyway. But the box keeps saying "no satellite signal" or some crap cos of the terrible connection. ![]() Plus we only have the one HD telly so if I get too used to it and I'm watching BB/anything else upstairs it'll be weird ![]() |

I got a HD Sky box this week too, everything looks so much nicer in my opinion. Apart from EE, which I can't really tell the difference between SD and HD. I wish there were more music channels in HD though, there's only one currently and it hardly ever plays music videos. Can really tell the difference between blu-ray and DVD, I still like DVD's but whenever's there an option between the two, I'll get blu-ray, the quality is amazing.

Every single MV is in HD now. And I can't enjoy them online due to slow internet speeds. |

Definitely makes a difference, especially if you're watching an epic drama or sport. The details are much better.

HD is the business. It clearly makes a massive difference. The only problem is that everything isin't in HD so I have to suffer inconsistent quality drops every now and then.

Hopefully we'll soon get to the point where every channel is HD.

Oh Definitely, won't be long now.
And when it happens, I hope they put the HD Channels first. I hate typing in '101' for BBC HD and it being the LQ Channel ![]()

Yes.
I agree with Locke; I can't watch anything anymore if it's not in HD. Thankfully almost every channel I watch is now in HD Form, except for UTV [ITV1] I know there are plans to bring a HD Version of UTV to Ireland but I don't know when. I hated watching I'm A Celebrity 2010 in low quality and then switching over to ITV2 for Get Me Out Of Here Now, and the Quality was out of this world in the jungle. There's a show I watch and when I miss it, I literally throw a fit and start punching stuff and my Mum's like 'Patrick if you hurry you can watch it on the catch up channel' and I'm like 'NO! The quality is a disgrace!'. Which is true, I find without HD TV just looks like some video a kid has filmed on his Nokia back in 2004 and has then uploaded it to YouTube. Also EastEnders looks really bright and crisp in HD where as on the 'Poor' channel for those less fortunate - it's dull. Waterloo Road is also the same, oh and South Park in HD is quite cool aswell.
