Default Don't you wish people would look before crossing the road?

When I'm in somebody's car, we almost knock somebody, usually a small kid, down, because they can't be bothered looking before crossing the road. How annoyingly frustrating is this?

And then they'll start moaning when we knock them down, when they, quite clearly, were asking for it.

If the driver was paying proper attention to the road - and all that may be on a road, other cars, pedestrians, kid, dogs running across, kids running after a ball etc .... small kid or not: there really shouldn't be any real reason to 'almost knock somebody down, usually a small kid'.

Experienced drivers can read the vast majority of situations before they actually happen - ie: they are ready for it - that's how accidents can be, and are avoided.

I don't agree. Sometimes, in a very urgent situation, people have to drive quickly to get somewhere. Whilst it's vital for them to look before driving, some people get in the way. Of course, the driver is supposed to use common sense, but is that to say that pedestrians can have as little respect for drivers they wish, and not use their common sense?

Come on, Pyramid.

Come on, Pyramid.

Pedestrians aren't the one who is charge of driving the vehicle that can kill. That's the difference. The onus is on the driver to be paying attention and to be able to 'read the road /situation'.

It's actually vital for the driver to look ALL THE TIME when they are driving: not only 'before driving'.

Of course emergency situations happen: that is not what you posted though: what you put up sounds as though you are describing a very regular situation. (below)

Sorry. Didn't phrase myself very clearly. In all circumstances, it is still the pedestrians' responsibility, as well as the driver's, to look before crossing. That's what we call workmanship.
