Brian Dowling has been announced by Channel 5 as the new host of Big Brother.

The UBB and BB2 winner says, "I'm really excited about the opportunity to host one of the most talked-about shows on TV. It's ten years since I first won, so what better way to celebrate than to be asked to host the new series?"

Emma Willis will present a new spin-off show called Big Brother's Bit On The Side. It is described as "vibrant, fast-paced and edgy take on all the developments and news from the house".

Big Brother on Channel 5 starts on August 17 with a celebrity series followed by the regular series.

A number of the ex-housemates have also been filming an advert for the new C5 series.

Have to say Brian always got on my nerves.

But as long as most of the presenting by him is on eviction night only I don't think it will bother me enough to not watch.

So will be watching on August 17th. Any idea whos going in the house yet?

Wish it would have been the other way around. Emma Willis has proven time and time again on various shows that she's a capable presenter and would have done a brilliant job fronting the show. Where as Brian on the times that I've seen him on This Morning struggles with live TV.

Well, if this is their idea of a good presenter for the main show then it proves the show'll be dull and probably predictable.

Exactly right. Should of at least been Emma hosting main show and Brian perhaps cleaning the toilets.......

I have no doubt that Brian will do a great presenting job, Emma would also have been good I admit, Brian though will as I have said before really take hold of this and make the role his own.

I agree, he really stood out on This Morning today. It's a pity he has to work on there with the likes of Amy Childs and Imogen Thomas. He had the lion's share of the OB slot though and you could see why.
