Will only believe it when C5 confirm. DS is not a source.

It derives from a statement given by James Tatum, 5's digital director, to a subscriber only site called New Media Age, as quoted here:

http://www.marketingweek.co.uk/secto...028107.article

Quote:
Previously it had mooted providing live 24-hour streaming via its website, but Tatam said it has shelved this idea in favour of a constant stream of video highlights, which will be available on both the main website and Facebook.

“We want a lot of the content to be on Facebook. Putting real-time news and video updates alongside the ability to vote should be really powerful,” he said.

Facebook won’t be the only voting mechanism, according to Tatam, but will be one of several on devices yet to be confirmed. It’s also in talks with YouTube to extend the use of the platform beyond video content for Big Brother. It has also launched its first Big Brother Twitter feed.
Whether Tatum has anything at all to do with 5's broadcast arrangements we don't know, but 5's website will be ****e.

Tatum said that like 2 months ago.

This is yet again a new thread on old news. Actually there is no news, NO official news from Channel 5 so why dont we all just wait for their statement instead of constantly making the same thread?

Just my opinion.

I am not really bothered, I accept a great many are but I know people who didn't watch it last year,I only did for the save and replace tasks and then I even got sick of that.

Obviously it will depend on what other progrmming is to be done for the series but I can certainly live without live feed and still massively enjoy BB.

Never thought I would say this I miss talking to Channel 4.
some of us phoned Channel 5 yesterday it was like something out of an 80's sitcom
victor Meldrew on the phone.Cleary suffering from a bad case of piles and no manners.

Asked why C5 hasnt even bothered with a Generic email (silence)
I told him the link above that triggered all this off '(so what) his reply

by the sounds of it the guy is there on his own.Godisacelt used the 020 number earlier and appeared to get a much nicer person and basically said nothing has been confirmed so take no notice of anything.

But that Article that dodge posted its quite clear the level of detail in there and the guy is dealing with this issue you can take as correct.IMO the guy didnt realise his comments would cause such a fuss and C5 are just sitting on this until they can find the correct way to spin it.

but not impressed with how C5 handle Viewers feedback,God help them if some big fuss kicks off there is no way they will cope.

Channel 5 are not too fussed when something kicks off, they are more liberal than Channel 4.

yep I agree.

If they can get coverage sorted I will be more than happy because unlike C4 I do think BB would have more room to be itself on C5.

just seems a bit of a shambles at the moment.

the cost isnt really the issue anymore now.I hope they wont use that as the excuse when they finally confirm its gone for good.
After spending 200 million on the rights.the small fortune in making it HD and the new onsite Editing Suite.

when you think how many ways you can stream a feed now like Youtube.daily motion etc.

Bulgaria has 2 feeds and coverage on a channel (like E4 had).that house was a former Bakery yet they have coverage that puts BBUK to shame.

I have watched BB for the last 6 years and voted since then too. I am an avid fan of the series and watch all I can of it.

I don't consider live feed that important and it won't stop this 'true' BB follower from
watching and participating by voting if live feed is not there.

You do get a different experience watching the LF from just watching the main HL show. Not necessarily better, just different - its down to personal taste I suppose.
I agree that the HL show can be spoiled somewhat if you have already seen the action in the house previously on the LF. However, I think this is offset by the experience of seeing what is cut and having a little more background context to the events shown.
Personally, I would love to see the return of the LF as last year particularly there were many instances of things that weren't shown on the HL show that greatly changed my opinion of some HMs and events.
Having said that, I could still live without live feed if I must and will not stop watching just because it isn't available.
It's interesting that the issue of cost has been raised again. I'm not sure how much supplying a live feed would be, but I wouldn't have thought it restrictive (considering the alleged budget). I would've thought it is more to do with legal implications and risk, even though there is a 15 min delay there are still difficulties in this area and C5 may prefer to play it safe for the moment.
Going slightly OT for a moment, with reference to HD - is all the cost of this being met by C5? Could it not be that it is Endemol who have the responsibility to upgrade cameras and broadcasting equipment? Perhaps C5, having a HD channel to show it, specified a HD version of BB to be produced by endemol - this might even have been one of the sticking points of contract negotiations and may explain why they paid (what some people have suggested) slightly over the odds for 18 months of BB.

LF or not, I'll be watching. You never know, the new use of Facebook / Youtube might be a success and not the let-down that the online updates of BB10 was.
