Default This and then a full series....really?

Another member made a thread about the horrific editing styles of CBB tonight, they made the excellent point that the over-editing with the music scenes, cheesy music and names on the screen distract viewers from what is actually going on, it makes it impossible to connect with these people and they are miss using valuble air time on stupid montages which could be filled with conversation.

This editing is already giving me a headache so the thought of watching another 14 weeks or so more makes me want to fall asleep, no wonder people don't watch anymore, even I - the BIGGEST Big Brother fan can't imagine watching a full series of BB in this way, and I am scared of actually losing interest, something which I never thought I would think or say.

Anyone else feel this way?

No, I think it's fine. The music can get slightly annoying but that's my only issue. I do feel that maybe not all housemates are getting enough air time (have we even seen Bobby on a highlights show yet? oh, apart from when he was about to cry after being nominated making him look stupid) but apart from those two things I don't have any major problems and think I could definitely watch for 12 weeks.

I think if you hate it that much then you shouldn't watch it, weather you've been a hardcore fan in the past or not - if it pains you to sit through it then don't. I used to like Eastenders and watched it every night for years but I began to find it boring so I gave up and haven't watched it since. It's as simple as that.

I know right! the thought of tuning in for that long seems impossible to me, it it so awful. I even watched it twice just to make sure I wasn't overreacting, but I wasn't, it really is that bad.

And what is with Marcus Bentley? They have ruined a tradition of Big Brother! We used to get the iconic "12.24pm, sophie is in the kitchen".......Now we get "12.24pm, sophie is struting her stuff in the kitchen and looks fit" - C5 did every thing right......until the show aired...

It's reminding me a lot of BBUSA. Except on that show of course dramatic stuff is actually happening.

The big problem of course is that USA has the live feeds to feed you more than the main show gives you.

I've been a fan for so long that 1 episode will not make me switch off, but if they carry on with this then I will, which scares and upsets me. And housemates don't get enough air time because they fill it with useless **** which they think us viewers are entertained by, Big Brother is about people watching, we want to see everything that goes down, not montages of people dancing at a very obviously pathetic party for 30 seconds. Channel 5 have missed the point of the show and are trying to weigh in on the success of TOWIE etc. and it just does not work on Big Brother.

I agree, the dramatic music would work on BBUSA because it is constantly a game, they are always planning, plotting, voting. BBUK is about the people, and thats it. C5 are stupid.

Yes personally I feel overwhelmed, even too a huge fan like me 15 weeks is too long ! I hope bb12 is less than 10 weeks because I fear I'll lose interest if I have to deal with so much big brother! To make matters worse there will be less than 2 months between the final of BB12 and the launch of CBB9! Everyone is going to lose interest by then

Precisely. Nothing about the original Big Brother concept still stands and I hate it.

It also means they won't have that break to reflect on the feedback and the numbers. By the time they realise something is wrong it may be too late.

If it was good old BB then I would watch it all without hesitation, but this over-editing and forced 'entertainment' makes me sick and I don't like it one bit. They are going to drive away alot of hardcore fans, its all too much and they need to tone it down.

If I could say anything to them right now I would say; "Slow it down, take you time and let the housemates give you who they are. If you have to lose the third replay of Kerri's tantrum then oh well."

They should have improvement forms on their website and have used this Celeb series as a tester series to give the fans what they want.

I'd say this and a whole lot more, C5 were really good up until now.

I gotta say...I completly agree. I literally cannot believe that I am feeling this way, but i realised tonight that i was only watching and will continue watching out of pure dedication. So strange, I was loving the first couple of days - then as the glossy titles played, Marcus started coming out with ridiculous comments like "Tara is missing the Californian sun" or whatever i realised that it is suddenly so so different in the most bizarre ways. It's not going to lose me as a viewer (though i shan't be watching Bit on The Side again. I love Emma Willis to bits, but I can't watch a show with such poor production values. The start of the show was appallingly bad, and was utterly embarrassing.) I hope to God it improves.

Big Brother USA doesn't have cheesy pop music playing over clips though, it has dramatic, high tension music. I'd rather that than what we've got currently.

The basic concept of Big Brother is about strangers living in a house together isolated from the outside world and being filmed by cameras 24/7. Does that not still stand today?

"isolated from the outside world", there's a competition to win a night to a premier with the housemates.. they're allowed their ipods, apparently allowed to phone home.

The public being able to watch 24/7 was the original concept.. Endemol's description of the show;
Quote:
In their fenced-off compound they're denied any contact with their loved ones, and the outside world. No phones, newspapers, radios or televisions. They're all alone... except for the millions watching and judging their every move.

Cameras and microphones are placed all over the house. Everything the housemates do is recorded and broadcast on television and the internet. They can't eat, sleep or chill out without the nation clocking their every move.

Yet somehow, the residents are desperate to stay in the Big Brother house. All the pain and embarrassment is worth the prospect of landing the title of Big Brother winner. All the stress of knowing that at any moment your housemates could be trying to kick you out!

On a regular basis, the housemates must nominate two or more of their fellow participants for eviction, but the viewers ultimately decide who has to leave. The last participant to leave the house wins the programme, and the huge cash prize that comes with it.
It's also a reality show, people keep going on about "it has to evolve". Adding music & silly effects are not evolving what is supposed to be a reality show, it being raw & real was part of the draw.
