I ask because over the past few days I have seen an increasing number of people getting very very wound up over really trivial things. Taking everything anyone says so bloody literally, and generally ending up sounding over the top defensive and a little hysterical in their posts.

I dont know if its just because BB season has started, probably is...but personally I wouldnt ever get wound up over something someone I have never met/will never meet says to me over the internet.

This might be just me being 'tough skinned' as it were. But I just tend to have a little giggle at people who insult me :/

How do you take things on this forum?

Only when its personalised and/or attempts to ridicule with generalised insults/put downs that can relate to people, identified or otherwise, who are members on here because of what or who they like,then in that instance yes I do, very rarely but yes, and it happened yesterday.

I don't believe it ever right to insult,or put down or ridicule and gang up on people simply because they like someonethat someone else doesn't.

I will defend anyone I like or see in that position without resorting to insults to another for any reason.I have never seen the point of ridiculing and trying to humiliate others no matter where it may take place.

A forum is a debating place,but people should not be belittled for what they like or who they like, Much can be light hearted but there is a time when it stops being funny and what is trivial to some is important possibly to others and vice versa.

I sometimes feel a little bit stung by certain people on here, I obviously realise that they don't know me, and I should just shrug it off, but there are certain people I am wary of on here and find it hard to warm to as well, I expect too much from people sometimes, and I am someone who tries to think very carefully about what I say as I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I think recently though I have unwittingly upset someone I was good friends (as far as forums go) with on here cos this person has been very cool and offhand with me, but can't tell for sure, probably nothing.

Anyway, even though the majority of forum members are very young, we all (myself included) should bear in mind that what seems like a throw away comment could affect someone.

Vicky, you speak a lot of common sense on this, and my head agrees with you 100%. My heart occasionally though, not so much. Depends what's actually been said.

On the whole though, I can count on the fingers of one hand the aforementioned people I am wary of on here, so really it's all good

That's it Kate, they don't know you so you shouldn't feel stung by anything. Don't try to analyse it too much, it really isn't that deep. It's just a pool of opinions and they're all different

I'd only really care if something was said about friends or family of mine. I've heard so many digs at my appearance that I really couldn't care less about that any more, and as for other insults... I can dish out far better than anyone can to me, so I'm fine

However I will stick up for my beliefs and take something seriously if I feel I should but I don't take anything to heart. I may have done a little at the beginning but I couldn't care now. People getting so wound up on here and then try to insult others because they think it will make their argument more valid makes me laugh though. I don't think I have ever been wound up on here. If I am in a bad mood though I get a little fed up though, but still don't take it to heart.

Nah.. I've been called some pretty nasty stuff on here by certain people and it doesn't bother me one little bit. I've always been the type that doesn't give a toss what people think of me.
