http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_syndrome

Quote:
In psychology, Stockholm Syndrome is a term used to describe a real paradoxical psychological phenomenon wherein hostages express empathy and have positive feelings towards their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness.
It does not apply to two hostages/victims (or, in this case, housemates).....

Exclamation Stockholm syndrome

Quote:
The phenomenon in which victims display compassion for and even loyalty to their captors. It was first widely recognized after the Swedish bank robbery that gave it its name. For six days in August 1973, thieves Jan-Erik Olsson and Clark Olofsson held four Stockholm bank employees hostage at gunpoint in a vault. When the victims were released, their reaction shocked the world: they hugged and kissed their captors, declaring their loyalty even as the kidnappers were carted off to jail. Though the precise origin of the term Stockholm syndrome is debated, it is often attributed to remarks during a subsequent news broadcast by the Swedish criminologist and psychiatrist Nils Bejerot, who had assisted the police during the robbery.
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/ar...#ixzz1cJ6w55aw

NOTE : It's a captor/victim relationship NOT a victim/victim relationship .....

I know - it's an idiomatic term for a claustrophobic reaction that takes place when a person or group is isolated and/or shut in a small space, with nothing to do, for an extended period .....

She said it herself today again about how lonely she feels in the house and she's been saying it since week 1 when she had the chat with Aaron and Harry. Jay is her comfort blanky ... a repulsive, mannerless, fat Geordie comfort blanky.

It aint gonna last I don't buy it for a second. How she kept a straight face when she said if she drew her perfect man it would be Jay I'll never know

Sorry Mr Fry.

the conditions you descriibed are very like those of a captive.

At the end of th day it is easy tto see that the OP just meant somethign like stockholme and not somethign excactly the same.

Either it IS Stockholm Syndrome or it IS NOT Stockholm Syndrome - there is no such thing as "somethign like stockholme" - in this case, it is NOTHING LIKE Stockholm Syndrome .....

Example of what IS :

Quote:
Ten-year-old Natascha Kampusch disappeared on her way to school in Austria in 1998. In 2006, 18-year-old Natascha Kampusch reappeared in a Vienna garden after escaping from her captor's home while he wasn't paying attention. In a statement to the media read by her psychiatrist, Kampusch had this to say about spending eight years in a locked cell beneath her kidnapper's basement: "My youth was very different. But I was also spared a lot of things - I did not start smoking or drinking and I did not hang out in bad company." By most experts' accounts, Kampusch is in a traumatized state and appears to be suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

People suffering from Stockholm syndrome come to identify with and even care for their captors in a desperate, usually unconscious act of self-preservation. It occurs in the most psychologically traumatic situations, often hostage situations or kidnappings, and its effects usually do not end when the crisis ends. In the most classic cases, victims continue to defend and care about their captors even after they escape captivity.

I think you're spot on. Doesn't matter what Jay does or doesn't do she's heard the crowds cheering and she's hanging on for dear life
