The final of Big Brother 2011 is just hours away and Alex is the odds-on favourite.

Dont the bookies win more money if the favourite loses?

And the longer the odds of whoever wins, the more they gain?

Yeah they would have to pay out larger lump sums, but less overall.

Can someone explain odds a bit to me please, I don't fully understand them.

If I bet the £10 on Alex at whatever her odds are now, and she won, how much would I win?

Go on http://www.oddschecker.com/specials/...brother/winner

Then at the bottom on the left under site settings, click 'winnings'. Put £10 in there, and the odds will change into how much you would actually win.

I put the bet on Alex as outright winner but I think there's an option to place Alex first and Aaron 2nd and you win more. So I guess I've fluffed it! I don't know a thing about betting.

Yeah, is this what a 'straight' forecast is?

Alex-Aaron at 7/4 would apparently win me £27.50? If I've understood it right.
