The house was built specifically for the BB3 house and every house between then and BB8 got smaller and smaller and built within each other. In theory some of the BB3 house was still there when BB8 was on air, but they got rid of it all for BB9 which is why that one was a lot bigger than usual. They haven't really changed it that much since BB9.
