It's a shame, because it starts off with a really gripping first half hour, and was genuinly scary. But then it became predictable and a bit boring and all good ideas flew out the window.

The thing I liked about the UnInvited was that it had a decent storyline which is hard to get in horrors also :

Guillermo del Toro's "The Orphanage" is a must see. More of an excellent atmospheric ghost story than out and out horror, but there are some genuinely scary "hide behind the cushion" scenes.

The Resident was creepy but wierd at the same time....it's one of those movies that left me undecided on whether I liked it or not

I prefer that kind of thing tbh, more of a creepy feeling than actual monsters or the new type of torture type horrors

Me too. Loved The Haunting as well, the original 1963 version with Claire Bloom and Julie Harris and Haunted, 1995 with Aiden Quinn. Films like Hostel and Saw are just gratuitously gory IMO.
